He could almost finish the sentence for her. "Right, and they are often underfoot, little devils." He chuckled softly, knowing it was only two in particular, but still. Boann had passed along her sense of humor easily. "I do that too, just not inside as often. For some reason I have been avoiding them in the kitchen more then anywhere else." He frowned, wondering why. She spoke of old times and the way they had made decisions on the fly and all. "And now we get to be the ones the kids come to for advice. I'm sort of looking forward to reminding them of what i told them the first time..."
Hugging her close his hands slid down her backside. "We did better then I ever thought we would, Rosalie, you helped me through some of the worst trials of my life and saved my family." And she was right, it hadn't been long at all and he still found his desire for her in his every day strong, high. His fingers spread out as they went down, barely stopping at the waist line, but it wasn't that sort of conversation so he just stretched them out as if he was trying to draw her to him even more. "Ha, yes they do lean into those brushes, but they love to be scratched. In that way they can be very human indeed." Then she mentioned what he immediately suspected was the real instigator of this entire train of thought.
"Ha, I wonder what she had planned for me. Doesn't matter, I'd teach her kids something different just because." He grinned back at his wife, knowing she would find that amusing. At least he tried to insert humor into this but he wasn't sure it worked. So he tried another angle. "Like a lot of people we know from school, we are some of the youngest grandparents in the past century, darling. So many people had kids during the end of the war as they thought it was their last chance. I bet if we ask around, many of our school mates are going through the same thing. So we'll be the most energetic grandparents we never had." Another hug, this time with his hands lower then before, delightfully.
"Absolutely. I can make the arrangements, Jeff owes me a few favors anyway." He was speaking of one of the few wizards living in the local area. He dropped the book on the floor and saw that it fell open. "So tell me where we are headed. love, so I know how to pack." She asked if he was kidding and he looked at her, quite serious. "Rosalie Summerby, do I need to take you upstairs and show you how much all this can drop into a hole as long as you remain mine? I think it's been awhile since I taught you a lesson about how serious I can be..." And then she kissed him and he picked her up in his arms as he kissed back, hard.

Lin smirked; Blaise had always been the odd one out. "True, I saw you around Draco a lot, but otherwise you were always the loner in most of the year. Not that the guys were probably doing anything you would have found fun. Well," she smirked then shook her head at the memories, "I was on more then a few of their minds however. It was fun teasing to see how far I could drive them mad and what all they would do to gain a reward." The ones she hadn't threatened which was most of the rest of the underage school.
She made a face. "Truth, raised to be like their daddies. Glad my boy was a rebel," she said referring to her hubs who certainly had not followed as his father had been. In truth, her own kids so far were rebelling against her lifestyle with the exception of Ash. Well, some of them thought they were rebelling, never having known the truth of what had compelled her. She conceded the point about his mother, of course, but remembered her visit to their house and how they had sought to get him breathing space for awhile. "I always forgot to ask, did my visit that once help any? Or did she forget about me pretty quick?"
A smirk about Jess' father making the difference followed by a grimace as it said a lot about their society. "I should have been born in a good old matriarchy. Why didn't I run off and join one?" A smirk at the slowing down. "I've never slowed down at anything I think except cooking. Dreadful waste of time, but Darius manages for us all usually. He definitely takes after his father on that part. I have trouble with everything except steam." A soft stroke of the child's cheek as he dozed, safe in his mother's arms. She couldn't remember not having them in a way, but she sure wouldn't trade anything for them.
"They are rather intrical to life." He spoke about not knowing what they would choose and she motioned at the sleeping child. "That's what makes them entertaining. He may end up being a punk rocker in Russia for all I know or an insurance salesman" she winced automatically "but watching and wondering is the whole fun end of being a parent. You get to see the whole show."

He laughed freely, watching her indignation. "Well I am in another year above and older for my year then most, so quite a few minutes ahead of you i think, though just being a year would suffice I think to classify you as younger." His eyes twinkled again, a sure sign he had a thought others wouldn't care for as she spoke about just explaining. "Well you could try that if I didn't spread a few of my own first after you go inside. I have half a mind to start something up that counters your own excuses just for pure amusement..."
At her hips and hands stance he winked and then told her the name of three girls in her dorm (all older) who he had a pretty decent idea were interested only in girls. "Talk to one of them, then, I bet they can help you work it out. Though I suspect at least one of them will be more amused then tempted, but she already has a steady." Then he stepped back slightly out of arm's reach saying "Oh but of course!" as if it had just occurred to him instead of him trying to find a way to work it into the conversation. Another step back as if he was about to turn and move fast.
"Instead, I'll just tell my brothers you were overheard expressing a secret crush on them both and send them your way! Then they can compete for your affections and that should help you decide much faster who you like the thought of curling up under the covers with." It was a devilish grin as he took a half step, half-turn and sprinted for the nearest stairs. "I'll just get that rumor started for you then, all right? That will help you get there faster..."

It was something even Vin had not prepared for, the sheer volume of things one needed to carry around when going out with babies. Not just the weather protection around them for the trip, but the supply of things he had loaded into the baby bag despite the expanded wizarding interior! It had taken them nearly an hour and a half just to get ready, both babies fast asleep and them sneaking around like it was a top secret ninja mission (baby wipes for some reason sprang to mind) and the quick and fairly efficient service from the local lawyer who was delighted to help carry things to the old farmhouse after driving them out to help keep the babies asleep. Somehow he suspected there was more to it, but he let it go. Many of the students he had discovered had odd ways of thinking and often because of how they had been raised. It was usually best not to push too much for some clarifications and this time his instincts were telling him to stop. "In my experience, limited though that might be, when someone has a belief they seem to hold onto it fairly dearly whereas when someone just has an idea it's easy to change or listen to new concepts. Beliefs aren't things most people let go of. So I would say that makes you kind of special."
She spoke more about flying on a broom and he shook his head. "Half the fun is in the climb itself, it'd spoil it for me I think. Challenging yourself to do more and knowing you can do it with your own hands, no magic, no special equipment gives you a certain confidence. And then the repel back down is always pretty cool." He pursed his lips then added honestly "I wear a safety harness of course just in case, but I only end up using it once every few years. I've gotten good at drains." She agreed to the move and he c0cked a head at her.
"Would you like to climb up once? Or do you think you'd better stick to the broom?" Either way he could meet her up there or take her up himself. And she seemed to like to try new things frequently. "Not many people can say they've scaled the building, you know. Although if you're nervous about being caught we can go up at night. I've done that more often anyway." Emblyn teased him about whether he might be worried and he tilted his head at her judging her for a minute, rather calculatingly. It was a move which had unnerved many of his housemates some of them feeling like they were under a glass being dissected, but he didn't hold it on her for long. He still trusted no one outside the family, but she didn't seem to be even partly serious.
And Vincent and Brier both had warned him not to get too intense on people.
"Worried? No." Of course he wasn't worried, he could take care of any competition if anyone became a problem and knew it. "My siblings have always showed me how to stand up for myself and what I want. So I don't get worried about competition." A eye was turned on her with amusement at her thoughts about compromising. "Yes, and the lions are the ones who have a reputation for it. I think if you went back and checked, you'd find that most of those incidents with my house they came out of the situation with an advantage. Letting someone catch you in what you want them to see, particularly when the other person can be easily identified, is an old trick. The Lions don't tend to plan as much as jump into things I think you'd agree. You probably helped them get what they wanted even if you didn't tell a soul."
He shrugged now. "The girl's dorm might be a challenge I would think, I've never tried. It's not hard to bring someone back into the dorm. I suspect only the true relationships which continue after school happen in my dorm." A small smile of secrets held showed in his eyes a moment before he admitted "It is a beautiful dorm, especially in the moon light though. Makes me want to consider building under the ocean..." He could remember Anne sitting on his bed watching out the window with him while they talked about things; it was a good memory. She laughed at his quick reaction and he was reminded of why outsiders couldn't be fully trusted, even if it was a minor point.
A sigh escaped him, but he didn't seem to be upset with her, just looked at her instead till she got back control. "No. Wine is okay, but not much of the rest. I use it in cooking some, but otherwise it's not something I'd drink much of." Again since this discussion had started he looked confused. "Why? It's just a body, flesh. While it may be different from others, it's nothing unique. That can't be a real mystery, can it?" As if to push the point, he opened his shirt and ran a hand down his side, half looking at her. He had abs and a decent set of slim muscles up his side but seemed to have no real body consciousness that so many teens did. As someone who went around at night wearing only boxers, he didn't see what would make someone feel vulnerable about themselves.
Her question about uniqueness also missed it's target. Looking confused he said "I've only ever met one other Darius and he wasn't half Egyptian, so no not really. Why?" Ah, so there was a list and he was the only one she had heard the name for? That was a tiny bit different. "Why would they only tell you one name if they had a list? Or did you think they were only telling you what they considered to be the top candidate for this?" It was not a confident voice saying this. he took on a cautionary look, but clearly he found this a bit hard to believe. "So you just happen to strike up a conversation because you saw me? Or did you start speaking because you were curious and wanted answers? because you were the one who said that last thing you wanted was a stranger or to be locked away. It sounds to me like you sought out answers for your own protection deliberately."
Unaware he had not buttoned his shirt yet, his hands were at his side, feeling defensive when she spoke looking him right in the eyes as he would expect a Lion too. They were always about the direct weren't they? that fit so well with what she had done, asking him conveniently the right questions... "Better? Better then what? Isn't that a rather relative way of looking at someone else's situation you know little about?" He frowned, wondering if he had been set up or actually let down. And not knowing which he wanted more.

Scorp nodded getting the point as always. His hair had at least a little color mixed in to keep it interesting, but he did wonder sometimes if someday it would choose to go paler. Not worth guessing at, but still. "If I'm lucky mine might stay more dirty. If not I might look up some charms to fix that." She spoke about Greece and he thought about how nice it would be to travel, then pushed it from his mind. This was not a time to daydream. "I think maybe I oughta do a tour around the continent after graduation, get some stuff out of my system. You think she'd give me some advice on what to do?"
He grinned at her response. "Hey see? I'm good for you. Just being around protects you from dad dropping in all the time, right?" It was teasing, but he liked the idea she could depend on him too in her own way. Siblings, he thought, were always a mix of like and irritation on some level. Shame really since they were your partners for life when it came to dealing with parents and family. Weren't you supposed to end up supporting each other against the adults? "You'll have to write me some and let me know how it goes. Who knows, I might be able to sic mom on him for you."
Nearly smirking now, he forced his face to be more serious; she didn't need to see how her exasperation at Dad amused him. Which it shouldn't, but somehow she had the knack for saying things just the right way. "I think I remember him promising mom he wouldn't ever force you into one, but I bet he's looking for some to push you towards being friendly with. Watch out if he asks you for any favors like checking out another guy for information for a business deal he has going. Might be a trick to make the boy think you are more interested then you are."

It seemed odd to Tito that he was giving a problem over to a boy much younger then himself, but that was Hogwarts. Each dorm had their own uses and certainly the Ravies were clearer thinkers then most. Using one to help him work out a problem also seemed to be giving the boy some focus, make him less crazy wild with the talking which Tito also appreciated. He had no objection if the kid got helped by this whole business! And he did seem to be thinking hard so he got quiet, waiting to see the result.
Gratifyingly, the kid came to the same conclusion as he had, those books were the next stage and their best chance at what they needed to know. The fact they were in the restricted section said a lot about what else might be in there, but he was hardly worried about that. He pursed his lips as Ethan responded with comments clearly about being out after hours and shook his head. "You seem much less suspicious then myself, I was thinking if we could get you inside and you could get the books and hand them out if an alarm did get sounded I could hide elsewhere with them while you claimed being shoved inside s some kind of cruel joke."
He watched the boy's face carefully, thinking that the curfew times for a second year wouldn't be a great stretch of the imagination with a Ravenclaw in the Library; must happen all the time with that house actually. "I seriously doubt unless they see us together most people would connect us as working together. If we make it seem the bully shoved you inside in hopes you would open books and the Librarian can't find any on you, we'd be able to make it seem feasible. That also avoids the whole out after hours mess." And then, knowing it was somewhat cruel, but unable to resist (maybe there was something about being in his house after all) he added a little more temptation.
"I imagine you read fast. We can each take a book for the night then and look for the answers, then trade books tomorrow. That way if we miss anything or something occurs to one of us while reading, we've both got the full story." And unless he was mistaken, he could easily dump both books on the Ravie's hands after. He had no reason to want them beyond the information which might set him free from whatever plan was afoot. His excitement deepened however as he thought about the fact he might soon have some answers in hand! That would be worth avoiding sleep tonight for sure...

Escaping from her normal course of things, Lia went walking and found herself at the bottom of the clock tower. Easily the odd connection in Hogwarts (though how many buildings kept changing themselves?), it had a courtyard at the bottom, a third floor entrance, and then went up to the clock face itself. With no other plans, she walked up the stairs, eyes widening as she found a couch wedged halfway up one of the flights at an odd angle. It looked precarious and balanced, as if sitting on the wrong spot would send it tumbling down the stairway! "What-- Now why would someone bring one here and then leave it?" Odd. Giving it a minute's examination, she debated on what would be the safest way to cross it. She had heard of teachers summoning furniture from the air, but never like this.
No, this had to be an older student's idea of a gag.
Eventually choosing an end, she took good hold of the banister and pulled herself over that end, holding tightly in case the entire thing moved under her weight, but she needn't have worried. The couch was actually easy to crawl over and once past, more a curiosity then anything else. Certainly it had provided some entertainment, if briefly! Patting it on the back she said softly "I hope your owner comes looking for you, but I'm afraid you seem nothing more then a obstacle to me. Good luck," just in case it was aware somehow. Then she continued up the stairway getting to the fourth floor landing when she heard a sound from a couple of floors below as the couch must have either been disturbed or began to unbalance and tumble on it's own!
Hoping no one had been trapped by it, she reached the top floor behind the clock face and turned to look at the giant hands, ducking under the mechanism's edge to the face of the clock to look out. Pulling her cloak closer as the cold felt like it seeped through the glass, she looked out wondering when it would turn warmer or if it was just going to stay cold for the time being.

A purse of his lips as he thought about the answer. "There are several sorts of families and not all of them stay...still really, but I agree. I don't seem the sort to settle fast." She spoke about high prices and he chuckled. "Since I am not the one who set the price I can't really do anything about that, but I think my worth is enough it's a more then fair price for the trade. I will be the owner of my own island after all." Her description of her home made an eyebrow go up. "Unplottable...on a farm? Well now, that's different." It did indeed sound odd, but there was little in the wizarding world that was a strict normal either if he was honest.
She placed herself on the social scale and he frowned slightly as he thought about it a moment. That was a tricky thing to classify. "Hmm. That's tough to say. I'm going to go with extremely eccentric antisocial upper upper class. We don't throw parties nor have lots of guests over, but we still use a lot of things from the 1200s cause it works so well." A hesitation then an honest adding "It is a pretty private place though. People can't get there without an invitation, but we do have enough space for a small army. And that's not just a phrase in this case. We've had a small fleet base out of there before..."
When she asked about amazing things, he didn't need to make things up. "Hmm. Catapult in my bedroom, second house in Egypt, we use ghost nannies, the house has a different floor plan for each person, I can't begin to tell you how many books we have scattered all over, but most can't be found anywhere else either... oh and my family were pirates and the tradition is one my mom likes to encourage. How's that for a start?" She admitted that things could be kept exclusive and he wavered his free hand in the air to show it was only partly that way. "Well, we're a close family and we take care of each other. Whoever I marry will have a ton of relatives who will back her up against outsiders for sure, but the secret is for only those at the Head of the family really."
Not that his family was selfish about secrets, but only he and his parents really needed to know that particular one.
Catching her eye he held it back and when she admitted she was impressed he bowed his head slightly. "Good to know I seem impressive, at least so thank you for that," his eyes laughed silently at that, "but you know there are many ways to explore...options without being totally committed to the whole. If you were interested I'd be more then happy to offer a sample tour of some highlights." And he winked. Hopefully that was at least a bit tempting for her if he had caught her attention much so far. As for value, "Depends. Do you want it purely in monetary, social impact, or knowledge and experience?"
Ah what a temptation that would be if she were more a Ravenclaw. Still, most Slytherins would consider the fact he offered options more enticing then the answer itself he thought so it was well planned anyway. Worth, as it was, certainly was a different impression for different people. Just saying for instance 'I'm worth seventy million' or 'I've lived in sixteen countries' had two very different impressions. He smirked at her. "Nah, my brother's is far more interesting and we all have it from mom. I don't think that counts nearly as much." Darius had the same traits as their mom's, the only other person in the family to have it that much.
Speaking first she revealed a decently hefty goal for herself which he did find impressive amount of work, but he also thought he knew how to counter that some. "Very nice. I bet I know how to increase your odds quite a bit towards that without cheating. Anyway," he took a breath and then began. "I need a male heir, more then one preferably, very soon. I have ambitions to travel the world more so, particularly Africa and North America by motorbike after graduation, and I have I believe developed a sort of magic which is very easily commercialized that I would like to open a store in Hogwarts for. I don't really count that as a bonus or a goal so much as something I would find satisfying however."
He shrugged. "I don't need to work for a living, it's more a matter of personal satisfaction you might say." He glanced towards her eyes as he added "Personal satisfaction is rather a high goal for me."

You could see her hesitation, which meant if he decided to nail her down the benefits had to be large and much more tempting then anything she might find on her own. Which, oddly enough, made something in particular come to his mind. An interesting thought, he played it out for a moment inwardly, deciding he liked the unexpected nature of it. She reacted as if stung, giving his feeling of superiority a boost as she was letting the adolescent side take more control. Or did she have a choice? "My my, don't we jump at that suspicion easily, must be weighing on your mind these days. I was speaking of the shelters you just mentioned, since you would be sleeping in a place with strangers you do not know nor can fully trust."
Let her realize what she had jumped to a conclusion of and his silent smile thanked her for giving him the upper hand in the conversation. "So, not desperate quite yet, but closer then you like. That is what forced you to come to me. Last possibility maybe?" He saw it in her reaction and pursed his lips. She might be a virgin now, but now that his mark was active again by his touch it wouldn't be long before she would have to turn to some male to try and get some control over her situation. That thought added well with the first idea still being slowly pushed around in his mind.
"No, they are places which usually end in hopelessness and then death. Few can survive with their help, but it sounds like except for me or prostitution, that might be your last hope." As she finally bent to his will and sat on his leg, he placed one hand behind her on her back to steady her, forcing her body to lean into him some, balance and depend on his support. That amused him, but it also served a purpose. "And you finally learn to bend your stiff neck to reason. Very well then, I might be able to help you then. If you had not been able to do that, there would have been no other choice for you I think. I certainly would not have trusted you to maintain a role."
He didn't say anything for a minute, letting her wait till he felt the moment right. "Have you ever acted? Do you think you have any chance of pulling off a teenage girl? I happen to have need of someone that age to perform a job in secret."
