5 Apr 17, 03:34 AM
Char: Char sat in the courtyard, legs outstretched and crossed as she leaned against one of the larger oaks. In her lap was a piece of embroidered fabric that resembled a corset, and she drew her wand over it, murmuring a spell and looking dissatisfied by the result. "d@mn" she said under her breath.
5 Apr 17, 03:39 AM
Cam: A student pointed her out and Cameron nodded and watched her from across the courtyard for a minute before deciding and walking that way. Not in staff robes and too old for the school now he stood out as he approached her. "Silver-Moon I take it? Charlotte?" He looked confident at least.
5 Apr 17, 03:43 AM
Char: She looked up, noting he appeared to be neither professor, nor student, she nodded. "Yes..." and waited expectantly for him to tell her what he wanted, though she suspected she knew based on a letter she had received from her parents that morning.
5 Apr 17, 03:45 AM
[×]Cam: Satisfied his parents hadn't at least picked a homely girl, he waved a hand and a stool appeared which he sat on to put him closer to her height, but still above her a bit. "Greetings. I assume your parents have already spoken to you about the contract?" He had no issues with his own looks and figured she wouldn't either as he still had a big ego about himself.
5 Apr 17, 03:53 AM
Char: Her suspicions confirmed, Char lowered her wand and nodded. "Cameron then" she said simply, aware of his name but little else as of yet. Her parents had sent her only the basics.
5 Apr 17, 03:56 AM
Cam: He nodded in confirmation. "Exactly. Thought it would be smart of me to come by and make sure you know what my family is pushing for in the contract. Especially a little part which, well, it's not in a normal contract." He pursed his lips before adding "And so you know I'm signed into this because of a deal my father made with me, I did not want a contract marriage. I have no choice however."
5 Apr 17, 04:01 AM
Char: Surprised, she looked up, fully focused on him now. Disliking the difference in their heights, she stood and summoned a simple stool of her own, though she required her wand to do so. When she had sat again, she crossed her legs and took a deep breath. "What do you mean 'not a normal contract'?" she felt instantly apprehensive. Her parents loved her, they wouldn't do anything too terrible, but still. "At least we have something in common then" she observed. "I probably wouldn't even have gotten married." She was still hoping something might fall through, but she was smart enough to appear acquiescent for now.
5 Apr 17, 04:04 AM
[×]Cam: He took in a breath wanting to appear apprehensive and avoided looking down her frame to prevent her knowing she had cards in her hand she was unaware of at the moment. "I have a secret I can not let get out, for my own safety as much as others. So I had to give into the request for an unbreakable vow to keep my secrets . I figure most people wil have a problem with that so I want to hear what you want on your side."
5 Apr 17, 04:08 AM
Char: She looked startled, unbreakable vows were heavily binding magic, and she wondered what sort of secrets he might have that would require them. "Were my parents aware of this when they..." What? Sold her? Signed her over? She wasn't sure how to put it. She smiled sardonically. "I'd rather not be bound for life" she pointed out, though she knew her contract would likely require it. "I had...other plans for my life, but it doesn't matter now." The words tasted sour.
5 Apr 17, 04:12 AM
Cam: He nodded. "That's what I was told. The locations of certain people in my family may not be revealed to outsiders. Once you hear the secret I suspect you will not have any problem with the vow. That's the trick, however isn't it? Trusting in advance." He pretended a sigh and then a soft laugh. "Didn't we all. However there's no hope for it now. So I'll repeat, what do you want out of all this?"
5 Apr 17, 04:18 AM
Char: When he said it, she relaxed a fraction. That didn't sound quite so bad as she had imagined. She even appreciated the possibilities. For a moment, she wondered how much he might know about her family and its history. "Trust is earned" she pointed out, and hard-earned in her case. She resisted trusting anyone outside her family too fully. He sighed, and she searched his expression, wishing Vin was around to give her his impression. He always did read people exceptionally well. Given they were trapped, at least for the moment, she decided to be at least somewhat honest. "I have no interest in a traditional life" she admitted. "Which is probably part of the reason my parents were willing to consider a contract in the first place. I like to travel and find new experiences. I don't like routines and I'll make an utterly terrible trophy wife if that's what you have in mind."
5 Apr 17, 04:24 AM
[×]Cam: A nod at the trust line. "Interesting. Well for example, I'd be willing to work travel in if you were willing to be obedient wife in front of others o we provide a mutual front. Whether it's true or not is another issue. Anything else?" She mentioned trophy wife and he smirked. That was hardly one of his thoughts at the moment.
5 Apr 17, 04:28 AM
Char: She was positive she felt her right eye twitch at the word 'obedient'. "My parents will think you imperius'd me" she told him, and there was no joke in her tone, though her expression remained open. "I was hoping to open a boutique after I graduate. I've already sold several of my..." she frowned down at the fabric in her hands. "Creations, and I was hoping to turn that into something eventually."
5 Apr 17, 04:31 AM
Cam: Travel and a shop. Easy. "Well the contract is for two kids within the first three years. You do the vow without an issue and be obedient within my definitions of reasonable" he said giving her a raised eyebrow "and I'll work travel in at least every other month and set you up with a shop. It will be near home in London however just so you know." He would have required travel anyway really.
5 Apr 17, 04:36 AM
Char: While she didn't like the idea of being pregnant immediately out of school, her mother had stayed pregnant nearly all of her life and still managed to be a force to be reckoned with, so she didn't balk too much at that revelation. The vow she was admittedly more wary of, but she could work on him between now and then to try and find out what she was letting herself in for, she was sure. "I think I will have to have a better idea of your definition of reasonable before I agree to that" she returned. Every other month...it would do to start, if she couldn't find a way out of this. She'd work on pushing whatever boundaries he put into place as time went on. "London" she repeated, not as far from home as she feared it might be. "I can deal with that." She studied him critically for a moment. "And what is it you want...out of this?" She didn't care so much as she was curious honestly, but it seemed prudent to ask.
5 Apr 17, 04:43 AM
Cam: A smirk. "Well, I was a slytherin I admit. I just don't think letting someone whose matching an image to control what that image is makes much sense when it's for someone else." And yeah he had seen that trap. "I'm not going to be some big socialite if that's what you are thinking, but I do like to go out some. But I won't have any arguments around others nor around the kids. United front means everything looks good to others on the surface even if you try to beat on me in private." He raised an eyebrow as he said that for of the two of them he was clearly far tougher physically. He held up his fingers. "Regular sex obviously and someone to take care of the home instead of me doing it. I'm going to be way busy at work and I will try not to bring it home, but sometimes I have to go out and do research for stuff so home needs to be not dependant on my presence. I'm not wanting a hosuewife, mind, but you would be the responsible one on that end even if it's just monitoring the servants i.
5 Apr 17, 04:43 AM
Cam: f we end up going that route. I'm not convinced of anything yet being in iron."
5 Apr 17, 04:49 AM
Char: Based on what he was saying, she heard only one thing: Trophy Wife. He wanted someone to give him kids, run his house, give the appearance of total acquiescence, and take to bed when he wanted. She was unsurprised, but maybe a touch disappointed. While she was pleased he was at least nice to look at, she had hoped for more than that. Maybe that had been foolish. She hadn't realized until this moment that she'd had expectations at all. She remained silent through the entirety of his spill, though she smirked at the 'beat on me' comment, tempted to make a joke about bedroom preferences though she held off. The whole thing sounded...unspeakably dull and she sighed. "Fine" After all, she understood that the appearance of calm and acceptance could be an asset while she searched for a way out. The less wary anyone was of her and her motives, the more freedom she would have to look.
5 Apr 17, 04:52 AM
Cam: Considering what he was going to have in the house that she wouldn't be able to mention to anyone he felt confident that it sounded mundane while being quite a mess. He would hardly imagine she could see that one coming! She said nothing, put up no resistance. Good. "Then we understand each other. I doubt you will have any problem with that seeing as you get your shop and your travel as well, correct?" He felt more confident after this conversation he would run her around in circles easily enough. Hell, she hadn't resisted the idea of leaving school at all even.
5 Apr 17, 04:59 AM
Char: She kept her face carefully impassive. "Sure" she nodded. Internally, the gears were already spinning. Options, she needed options, and a conversation with Vin. She could always run off to the muggle world, use the money she had saved from her clothing sales. It wouldn't do much, but she was resourceful and creative, surely she could...she seemed to realize he was still sitting there. "Is that all then?"
5 Apr 17, 05:04 AM
[×]Cam: She was being very cool about selling her self into baby making and being sealed in vows. Somehow he hadn't been expecting such complacency from her family background. "You have not asked for much so far. Are you sure that's it? Neither of us choose to be here, but I'd rather see us each get stuff out of it." He watched her eyes carefully, wondering what was going on in her head.
5 Apr 17, 05:08 AM
Char: Realizing he was right, and that he might become suspicious, she shrugged. "I haven't given it too much thought yet" she answered. "I'll think on it some and let you know." Time, maybe that would buy her what she really needed most, which was time. She knew his type, and even if she didn't, it was easy to see. This man radiated confidence, a sort of ingrained arrogance she recognized. He expected to get his way, counted on it, and that could be used against him if done properly. Vin had been right. She was her mother's daughter, and she smirked briefly at the thought of what her mother might do in this situation.
5 Apr 17, 05:15 AM
[×]Cam: Well now, that seemed okay. "Sure." He pulled out a card with his address on it and said "I'll expect an owl. Oh one other thing, I assume you have no issue wth the dark arts? I got the impression from your family that they had some history with it before so I was just curious..."
5 Apr 17, 05:17 AM
Char: That got her attention, and it showed when her expression suddenly cleared and her eye color shifted to an unnatural orange. Most people, even those who practiced the Dark Arts, didn't speak of them lightly. "That depends" she said carefully, "but yes, there is...history."
5 Apr 17, 05:23 AM
[×]Cam: She did something...odd. "Depends on what might I ask? Was that a yes or no to you having no issues with it?" Now he was amused. He wouldn't be explaining this one in detail, let her remain curious. "Oh almost forgot to ask, what are your best subjects? What will you need a tutor in the most?"
8 Apr 17, 12:43 AM
Char: "Many things. Whether you are referring to a theoretical knowledge or practical use, and if so, what they're being used for." Unbreakable vows and dark arts, warning flags were going off in spades. "Neither" She arched a brow, "I do fairly well in all of my subjects..." Then she paused, except Arithmacy maybe."
8 Apr 17, 12:47 AM
Cam: So, mixed feelings. He nodded, that would work for his purposes. "Just curious. I can not say more till after the vow." He could see her becoming alert which told him she had at least a sense of danger. "I see. Well I ask since I will need to hire some this summer for you if this goes as expected, so thought it would be good to check first. I always hated Arithmncy so i understand that..."
8 Apr 17, 12:49 AM
Char: "You want me to make an unbreakable vow involving the Dark Arts?" she clarified. Suddenly leaving the country was beginning to look like the safer option. What were her parents thinking? Did they even know? He mentioned tutors and she merely nodded, still much too focused on the prior subject to focus on this one. "I prefer Transfiguration or Astronomy" she agreed distractedly.
8 Apr 17, 12:56 AM
[×]Cam: He rolled his eyes. "No, and don't jump to conclusions, you sound ridiculous. Did I say it had anything to do with that?" He shook his head at her. "I was merely saying I can't say any more. Do I really look like someone who carries around dark items with him all the time?" He held out his arms to show there was little in his pockets and such. He smiled. "Much better subjects. Have you worked on animagus or on any patronus studies much?"
8 Apr 17, 12:59 AM
Char: She narrowed her eyes at the word ridiculous. "You brought it up right after mentioning an unbreakable vow. Any sane person would at least consider the possibility the two were related." She hated when people dismissed her thoughts or feelings. Her family rarely ever did, and most people at school were smart enough to know better. She smirked at his appearances question, though her eyes were still tense. "It has been my experience that people who are truly dangerous generally do not look so." Let him make of that what he wanted. She hesitated, unsure she was willing to move on to lighter topics at this point. "Patronus studies yes, animagus studies, no."
8 Apr 17, 01:06 AM
Cam: "I had already mentioned as close as I could why I need the vow. mentioning that I can not say more till after might hint it might be connected, but certainly not that the vow is about them. Hence why I say do not jump to conclusions. When you hear the truth I suspect you will be embarrassed at your assumptions." There, let her think on that. "You don't know me well enough to guess at my background, though I did tell you I was a Slytherin. That should tell you enough for you to know I am more complicated then most. Surely even if you do not know me you have some faith in your parent's judgement?" Ah so she had been interested at least. "Shame. They share a lot of connections, very interesting stuff. Have you achieved a corporeal patronus yet?"
8 Apr 17, 01:16 AM
Char: She opened her mouth to tell him it was completely understandable to be a bit wary of someone insisting you make an unbreakable vow within minutes of meeting, but closed it. The more he talked, the less she had to until she had a better feel for him. "I have a lot of faith in my parents, but I don't agree with their decision in this case." She nodded, "nearly. I can't quite make it out yet, but I"m almost there."
8 Apr 17, 01:22 AM
Cam: He hesitated visibly, then conceded the point. "On that I can agree wholeheartedly with you. At least you are not ugly which I had half feared. My thought was always that contracts avoided looks entirely and I am pleased to be mistaken there at least." A nod at her answer, though he looked pleased. "Excellent. COnsider looking into the animagus stuff then. Both have a way of following the same paths and learning about one helps the other too."
8 Apr 17, 01:45 AM
Char: He conceded, and she grudgingly softened a fraction. That he was no more pleased than she was strangely endeared him, if only mildly. She laughed softly, she couldn't help it. It was the closest thing to a compliment he'd offered since he approached, and it was decidedly mild compared to the sorts of things she was used to hearing. Char wasn't an academic, but the knowledge that he didn't intend to prevent her finishing her education was understandably relieving. Maybe not quite a trophy wife then. "What is it you do then? Or is it something related to your questions earlier?"
8 Apr 17, 01:49 AM
[×]Cam: She laughed at his comments part and he felt like that was some sort of progress. She asked about his job and he looked at her eyes as he responded, directly. "Somewhat. I am the manager for a store." Maybe she would get a hint from that. "It's not exciting, trust me, it's as dull as I can make it." A slight smirk popped up then, he could not help that.
8 Apr 17, 01:52 AM
Char: Something about his expression got the gears of her mind turning. There was more to the story, and she found herself beginning to edge toward intrigued rather than nervous. Still, an unbreakable vow was a high price to pay for his secrets. She tried to picture him as a shopkeeper and found it difficult. "You don't look like the type" she shrugged, "but appearances can be deceiving I guess." Once she had allowed herself one question, the next was easier. "I assume the contract included some sort of general time frame?
8 Apr 17, 02:03 AM
Cam: He laughed now, not loud but enough of a true laugh. "Of course I don't, but managers can work in a lot of different fields. I think I'm far more interesting then most of them though." A grimace this time as it was not something he was thrilled about either. "Yep. Two children within three years means they have to do the marriage sort of soon for you to have a possible time to succeed in. Rushed too much I think, but the 'adults' really are not interested in our opinions on it either I think."
8 Apr 17, 02:10 AM
Char: She smiled, her first since meeting him. "We'll see about that." He grimaced, however and the smile faded. When he had finished speaking, she flinched. "They probably want to make sure I'm settled down quickly. I...this isn't what I would have chosen for myself. I'm not even sure I would have had kids. I like them, but growing up with so many people around...I wanted time to have some space of my own I guess."
8 Apr 17, 02:15 AM
[×]Cam: Another smirk at her response, but then she faltered a bit. "Neither of us did actually. If you need it, I can make sure there is a nanny at least to give you some space. The rest is sort of out of my hands." Gleefully. He could not be blamed for what was happening and despite it fittin ghis ideas, he would not be seen as the bad guy
8 Apr 17, 02:20 AM
Char: She took a breath, tried to gather her thoughts into something resembling reason. Two in three years...maybe she would get lucky and end up with twins. Maybe something in the library at home could...later. "That might help" she agreed. "I had a nanny growing up...well, technically two, but one was a ghost."
8 Apr 17, 02:23 AM
Cam: He gave her an odd look; that was not a reaction he had expected. "Um, what? You had a...ghost nanny?" Distinctly odd.
8 Apr 17, 02:25 AM
Char: She laughed at his expression. "Sure, the house I grew up in is full of ghosts, ma works with them. Some live there, some come and go..." She shrugged nonchalantly.
8 Apr 17, 02:26 AM
Cam: A raised eyebrow. "Interesting. So the ghosts in Hogwarts what, just felt familiar then?" A second's thought. "How could a ghost be a nanny though? It's not like they could hold a child..."
8 Apr 17, 02:29 AM
Char: "You could say that, though there aren't nearly as many." She thought about it for a moment. "It's hard to explain. She didn't need to touch us because she could..." Another pause. "It was like she could put thoughts into our heads, redirect us sort of...it's not really something I can explain. Plus, it was a long time ago."
8 Apr 17, 02:34 AM
Cam: She had more then that? "Huh." Very interesting actually, he assumed he would see her home at some point. "I know your family is in commerce and has a lot of Ministry connections, but I never heard anyone speak about the house."
8 Apr 17, 02:35 AM
Char: She grinned. "It's really more of something that has to be experienced. Trying to explain the way that house works would take ages." It was obvious by her tone that Char was very proud of her home. "Where did you grow up?"
8 Apr 17, 02:37 AM
Cam: Now more interested, Cam made a note to himself to see what else he could find out later. "Sounds interesting then at least. I'm only in a bachelor pad at the moment, I'll be buying a house for us." He didn't ask her what she wanted figuring she would tell him eventually. "London, actually, my family has a house tucked awaay that's msotly greek in design."
8 Apr 17, 02:40 AM
Char: "It definitely is" she assured him. Contemplating his answer for a moment, she nodded. "I've heard Greece is beautiful" she said thoughtfully. "I was hoping to see for myself one day. Then again, I was planning to see most of the world one day before..." she trailed off and gave him a meaningful look.
8 Apr 17, 03:07 AM
[×]Cam: She didn't say anything about a house on his part so he didn't bring it back up. "I don't know, myself, but the house is nice. My parents had their honeymoon there and came back and built the house around that idea. You'll see it at some point, just remind me to show you around it." At her look he held out his hands to indicate it was not his fault. "Hey, I said I would throw insome travel...."
8 Apr 17, 03:12 AM
Char: She tilted her head, wondering if his parents' marriage had been arranged also, but not ready to delve into family history just yet. Are you hoping to live in London once..." She stopped, 'once we're married' was still too strange a notion to fully get her mind around. "Once things are settled?"
8 Apr 17, 03:18 AM
Cam: Ah, so she was thinking something else... "My plans are open, but I work in Diagon.. Why, is there some place you've always wanted to be? It's not like it's hard to travel back and forth from most places." How happy can I make you so you work that much better for me...
8 Apr 17, 03:26 AM
Char: She considered the question for a moment, surprised he had asked it. "I've always been more focused on where I wanted to go than where I wanted to stay, but as far as where I'd always want to come back to...I wouldn't want to be too far from my family I guess, but you're right, it's not hard to apparate."
8 Apr 17, 03:29 AM
[×]Cam: He had asked it on purpose to make himself look good of course. Cam was nothing if not smooth. "I understand that. My sister is down on the coast so I would't want to move out of the UK myself. But I also understood you have a lot of younger siblings. Won't they all scatter to different places as they graduated as well?"
8 Apr 17, 03:35 AM
Char: Char nodded, "Vin will travel, but he'll get the house so he'll probably always be around. The rest will probably scatter yes, but like I said, originally I planned to travel a lot." Plans that would have to be altered to accommodate her parents wishes now.
8 Apr 17, 03:38 AM
Cam: He thought a moment. "So Vin, he's a year behind you, correct? He's to be the heir then?" Good to know.. "Then being near your family only works while your sibs are growing up then. Nothing personal, just trying to get a grip on a situation I know little about."
8 Apr 17, 03:50 AM
Char: "Yes, Vin...Vincent, he's the next oldest." She smirked, "true, some of them will probably move to Egypt, I know Ash and Seth like it there." She shrugged, "It makes sense, though I doubt you'll have much luck getting a grip on my family. There are too many." And most people considered the Silver-Moon's a family of which to be wary besides.
8 Apr 17, 03:55 AM
Cam: Egypt? Another excuse to get into some other places, this was getting better. "Oh? I assume you will want to go see them if they do." She mentioned him not being able to get a handle and he frowned at her. "Not that I have much choice in this situation, but I think I have to try at the least."
8 Apr 17, 03:57 AM
Char: "Of course" she agreed. Tilting her head, she studied him for a moment. "Just don't eat or drink anything anyone hands you without checking it with dad first and you'll be fine" she said after a moment. Not that Osiris wouldn't let the kids get a few in she was sure. "They're just...it's chaos at home" she said it affectionately rather than apologetically.
8 Apr 17, 04:00 AM
[×]Cam: He flashed her a look of some startlement. "Hang on, poison? Just because of the marriage?" The chaos part he had heard about that this family managed to do everywhere. It sounded like she might be starting to warm up with him. "Well with that many kids I would imagine chaos is sort of automatic.,"
8 Apr 17, 04:23 AM
Char: She laughed, a genuine laugh this time. "Of course not" she shook her head, taking a moment to catch her breath. "My family likes pranks, that's all." She nodded, conceding that point. "I think we could manufacture it" she said thoughtfully. "Especially the twins when they get going."
8 Apr 17, 04:29 AM
Cam: She laughed and he raised an eyebrow again but she soon explained. "Oh, gotcha. Especially on unprepared first time visitors I take it." A sigh. "I'm used to just my sister and me and now I'm out on my own. I doubt I will be able to keep up. It will be a hell of an adjustmentjust to have someone else living on my room."
8 Apr 17, 04:32 AM
Char: "Especially" she repeated in agreement. Her humor faded somewhat at his room comment. "Please tell me you appreciate the strangeness of realizing you're going to be living with someone you met less than an hour ago" she offered by way of explaining her expression. "This is all just...nuts."
8 Apr 17, 04:35 AM
[×]Cam: Another face. He didn't like losing face. "Hmm. I'll have to think about that one." And then shrugged at her next words. "I've always known if I didn't find a woman by a certain date, I was stuck for it with my father. He wants things taken care of and on a schdule." He made a worse face then dropped it with an effort. "He's never been happy with my ways, now he has control again and he's happy. Living with another will take me a bit, but I'll manage." A look at her. "In this case there are benefits."
8 Apr 17, 04:42 AM
Char: "Probably wise" she agreed. "I didn't think I'd be facing this honestly. "Vin's the heir, so making sure he kept the line going made sense, but..." She shrugged, "I guess we're alike that way then. Ma knows I didn't have any plans for a family. I guess she wants to make sure she has as many grandkids to spoil as possible." She arched a brow at him and smirked. "Let's hope so." Because Merlin if he was bad in bed that would be a complete waste of what looked to be an amazing body.
8 Apr 17, 04:50 AM
Cam: Smiling, he nodded. "Grandchildren, that's all they care about." Whereas I want to strip you down right now, he thought. A chuckle escaped him. "Oh I doubt you will find that part disappointing at all, I have had experience as a young man is supposed to. I'm sure you will please me, after all yu want to keep me happy I suspect."
8 Apr 17, 04:54 AM
Char: She'd drink to that if she had something to toast with. "Are you expecting more than two?" Fulfilling the contract was one thing, what would happen after concerned her more. She frowned, he was beginning to sound like he had in the beginning, and she realized that somewhere along the way she'd let her guard down more than she'd meant to. "In my experiences...relationships are supposed to be about pleasing each other." The double meaning was apparent as she'd meant it to be. If he thought he was going to get a wife who existed to please him, he was sorely mistaken.
8 Apr 17, 04:59 AM
[×]Cam: He shook his head, feeling good enough about having gotten it into her head she would be having one soon enough. "Not especially. I mean if you like big families that's fine, but I'm not interested in having a ton of kids around." She spoke seemingly more on guard and he raised a finger. "Relationships are not what we are in so much as a contracted deal. We'd have to be more comfortable around each other before we know how this will go long term. So far as relationships, we've barely met but we will be far more intimate before we get a chance to find out personalities. Hence why I only speak about the physical right now."
8 Apr 17, 05:19 AM
Char: She let him finish, smirking the entire time, and when he had she answered, "I was speaking of the physical actually, I just thought you might appreciate a bit of subtlety under the circumstances." She shook her head. "I think we can both agree that this is not what anyone sane would term a relationship."
8 Apr 17, 05:24 AM
Cam: His face lightened though he didn't laugh. "I'm not used to subtle. Most people it goes over their heads all the time. I'll try to remember you appreciate it." Then he chuckled. "I suspect that means both our parents are questionable in a mental capacity way."
8 Apr 17, 05:27 AM
Char: "Exactly, the art of telling people what you really think and having them be none the wiser." A sardonic half-smile crossed her face. "I've always known my parents were crazy. I just didn't expect them to be this type of crazy." After a moment, a thought seemed to occur to her. "So, the wedding. Do I have a few months or were you planning to kidnap me from the courtyard?"
8 Apr 17, 05:33 AM
[×]Cam: Her next words gave him promise that she would at least not be boring. "Ah now see, that makes me think this might not be as bad as I feared." He hesitated for a minute looking away, then said "My parents aren't insane so much as compressed. When you see the house I think I can explain more." By then she would have made the vow. When she spoke he had to turn back to her. "I think because of the time restraint you have about a month. I don't know what they settled on."
8 Apr 17, 05:37 AM
Char: "And here I thought you were hoping for some sort of trophy" she tried to make her tone light, but the reality of it came through somewhat. "My parents..." she shrugged. "They're hard to explain until you get to know them. You'll have to make your own judgments I think." She contemplated this news. "I doubt I'll see you again before then will I?"
8 Apr 17, 05:45 AM
Cam: "Noted." He was sure he could find a way to deal with them when he had to. "I can drop back in, I have library privileges here. Besides, when they give me more details I sort of assume you will want to know about them. Or do you want me to owl you?" He nodded towards the card in his hand. "There's my address if you have any other questions."
8 Apr 17, 05:53 AM
Char: "Definitely" she agreed without hesitation. Any resource in this situation had to be considered a good thing. She took the card and nodded. "Thanks. I guess I'll see you later then." She wasn't quite sure how one was supposed to send off her betrothed, and for a moment she knew a foreign sense of awkwardness
8 Apr 17, 05:56 AM
[×]Cam: He chuckled. "Then expect me to be in the library about this time in...a week? Next Thursday. I have to look for stuff in the restricted section every few weeks anyway." He stood, waving the stool into non-existence non-verbally and then saluting her with two fingers of his hand before he said "Bye Charlotte, till later." and went back across the courtyard headed inside. He had some things to pass onto his father for his negotiations with the girl's parents to give him the best edge possible....
8 Apr 17, 05:58 AM
Char: She nodded. "Thursday then" The stool vanished and she left hers as she stood, tilting her head to smirk at his salute. "Til then, Cameron" When he was gone she vanished the stool, gathered the nearly forgotten fabric, and went in search of her brother.
