Brier: Brier sat in a corner booth of the Three Broomsticks, face partially hidden behind a copy of the Daily Prophet as she studied the political news with rapt attention. When someone spoke, she looked up. After studying him for a moment, she smirked. "That depends on why you want to know."
5 Apr 17, 02:13 AM
Cam: He noted the smirk. "Ah there's the slytherin part." He pulled a paper from his pocket and glanced over it then looked back up at her. "Brier Summerby, right? It will matter to you probably more then me so yes I should double check." He smirked back.
5 Apr 17, 02:15 AM
Brier: Wary, she nodded slowly. "Yes" and then she arched a brow. "Why should it matter to me?" She still had not lowered the paper, studying him over it instead.
5 Apr 17, 02:18 AM
[×]Cam: Without asking, he slid into the seat across from her as he handed over the paper which was a letter addressed to him from his father stating the contract was made. "Well I lost a deal with my father so you're marrying me apparently." His eyes watched her face for a reaction. "Figured if you were the right person you would want to know."
5 Apr 17, 02:23 AM
Brier: She scanned the letter, handed it back, and laughed. "Nice try, but if my parents were planning to marry me off to a complete stranger, they would have at least mentioned it." She hoped. She'd known the arranged marriage prospect was a strong possibility, but she felt confident they wouldn't allow her to be blindsided at the very least.
5 Apr 17, 02:25 AM
[×]Cam: Folding it back he placed in his pocket with a shrug. "Suits me, if you want to wait for the official be my guest. My father sent me that as soon as it was done. I get priority communications though so he may have been the first to get a messenger. I don't think they are allowed in the Broomsticks however." He gestured to the waitress who headed his way. "Still, I thought I would give you a chance tin advance."
5 Apr 17, 02:31 AM
Brier: Finally, grudgingly, she lowered the paper to the table. "Not interested" she said simply. "So go ahead and write your father, tell him I'm 'unsuitable' or whatever you like, and pick someone else from your long list of candidates."
5 Apr 17, 02:35 AM
Cam: He shook his head and ordered something she hadn't heard of before. "Not my choice. I already mentioned I lost a deal with my father. He assigned me a contract and I have to go along with it. I just figured you would appreciate the warning and give you a chance to make any deals you want to make with me beforehand. But no, I don't have any say so." He smirked and stared at her. "Nice jumping to conclusions by the way."
5 Apr 17, 02:41 AM
Brier: She arched a brow, wondering what his father might have offered to get things done that quickly. She opened her mouth to say something sarcastic about his deals comment when she paused. "What are you talking about?" What conclusions?
5 Apr 17, 02:45 AM
Cam: The drink arrived, green with a spoon over the top of it with sugar in it. He paid and picked up the spoon as he said "Jumping to the assumption I'm in control of the situation. Very sexist of you. I can see why you might think it was a normal situation if that's all you've heard about before, but that's not a logic assumption you want to get in a habit of. Free advice."
5 Apr 17, 02:47 AM
Brier: She eyed the drink, wondering what it was, but too annoyed by the situation to ask. "Not sexist" she argued, "a logical conclusion based on the fact I've been raised in and groomed for a patriarchal society." She finished the last of her butterbeer.
5 Apr 17, 02:51 AM
Cam: Stirring the sugar in produced a swirl of magic sparkles above the drink like a tiny cyclone of color before he finished and picked up the glass. "Like I said, logical, but you want to get out of that habit of assumption. Just saying." He took a sip, letting the drink roll across his tongue before he continued. making a guess based on the paper section he could now see upside down "I feel safe thinking you want to change that anyway. be aware that not all guys get a choice. We had a bet, I lost, now I'm committed. It's a similar situation, even if I have full control eventually."
5 Apr 17, 02:57 AM
Brier: She watched the magic, distracted for a moment from their current conversation before being drawn back. "What was the bet?" she asked finally, curious to know what might have been worth such a large risk. Her expression was unreadable. "I'd like to do many things you probably have no interest in." She almost said 'understanding of' but decided that pissing him off wouldn't be prudent. Full control. She almost blanched, just the thought made her nauseous.
5 Apr 17, 03:04 AM
[×]Cam: He took another sip before he spoke. "If I could find a girl who would like a life of travel and give me a kid, I would have control over how my finances went and my inheritance. Since I could not find anyone willing to marry young, I'm stuck for it now and have to abide by his financial ideas." He heard the word thought she didn't say it, but ignored it on purpose. "And yes, I think it safe to say my father thinks control rings are important."
5 Apr 17, 03:11 AM
Brier: She did blanch then. "Morgana" she cursed softly. She needed to start reading up on ancient control magics. Now. She even considered, however briefly, whether she could get out of the UK entirely, but without financial help that would be impossible.
