Dec 16, 2011 at 9:28pm -Permission to godmod granted- Rosalie DiAngelo was worried, not about the potions test she had that day, nor about her family, not even about her impending engagement. No, Rosalie was worried because one of her friends had mentioned seeing Taranis leaving the office of one Deloris Umbridge last night. This struck her as odd for several reasons: first, because Taranis rarely ever did anything wrong, second, because he was not a member of the DA, and third because he hated the woman almost as much as Rosalie herself did. So yes, she was worried. She'd gone to the dungeons early that morning in an attempt to search out her friend. However, before she even made it to the portrait, one of the other Hufflepuff prefects told her that Taranis was looking for her, and that he had looked decidedly unhappy. So she had turned, and headed back the way she came, having resolved to seek him out after breakfast when she'd eaten. She hoped he was all right, Merlin only knew what mundane task the pink terror had roped him into. She had just turned the last corner on her way to the stairs when she felt someone grab her hand rather roughly and pull her into an empty classroom. Her first instinct was to scream bloody murder, but just as she opened her mouth, Rosalie looked up into the angry eyes of none other than her fiance. "Taranis...what...what's going on?" [/

It was not a good day. Several people in the dorm had already given him frowns having seen the point change in the cup, but they were Huffies and really couldn't stay mad after he said the "U" word. Most had felt sorry for him after that; that woman was creating more allies amongst the students to unite against her then she could imagine. Still, he had needed to argue to get permission to move the detention to right after the holiday break as he had pureblood business happening as soon as break started. He suspected he would get hit more with it later on actually, but he hadn't lost his prefect status and he'd have to be content with that. For some reason she thought he knew some big secret about a group organizing against her and he really had no clue what was going on. He had a suspicion though. A couple of people who had been heading up to breakfast he had spread the word with to let her know he needed to find her and finally here she had come down the hallway. He caught her arm and pulled her into the room without warning, his anger still on his face, mostly at the situation, but a good portion for her. Needless to say, Taranis was not often angry, but he thought he was in a really bad spot specifically because of Rosalie. It was hard not to jump to the conclusion she was responsible for betraying their promise, but he had also promised no matter what he would give her a chance and this was that chance. He started to raise a finger to point and stopped himself from doing it, but just barely. Instead, he put a hand on the wall on either side of her head and leaned in, his eyes accusing, but not hateful. No, he was holding back judgment on that at least. "Last night," he said with an edge, clearly holding back temper, "you told me you were going back to work on homework. In the dorm. Correct?" He waited till the count of five, watching her eyes to see what she didn't say and he saw it. it was harder to control his temper at that! "WELL! When I found your" he pulled out her quill and held it in front of her face like it was a piece of evidence, "QUILL in my bag I went back to catch you and give it back." He let that sink in, knowing she could fill in the rest of her misdirection and the precautions she had taken to keep him from knowing where she was going. "That's right, DiAngelo, I saw you. I know you didn't go back to the dorm. I know you were up to something and we had a deal. No secrets, truth between us. BUT!" He sucked in a breath, wanting to yell, but not yet not yet, she didn't know what she had done that was the worst part yet. Oh no. "That's not EVEN the worst part yet, oh no, Rosalie, not at all. I can't ask you or LET you tell me or confess what you WERE doing cause something ELSE happened in the halls last night." He let go of the wall and slumped back on a desk, his eyes still on hers, angry at having been put in this situation by her and the b- - witch in the halls. No the worst part was something he couldn't say, and that was that this particular betrayal made him mentally have to put his best friend and possible future wife on the same level with that... No, he couldn't even think about that. Not yet. Not till she convinced him one way or another. "Ask me," he said deadly quiet now, his eyes loud enough, "Ask me what else happened."

Rosalie's eyes were wide, her expression uncertain. His eyes flashed, and she had never seen him this upset before. Her first instinct was to bolt and find him later once he'd calmed down, but he had her trapped against the wall. She settled for pressing herself as close to the stone as she could manage, she met his eyes, confused at first. She wasn't certain if his question was meant to be answered, but she managed a nervous "C-correct" in response. Was it possible he could have... Her eyes flashed uncertainty momentarily, but no he couldn't have, there was no way.
Her quill, she didn't reach for it, the sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach told her that the worst case scenerio had been realized here. She kept her lips firmly closed, the less she said in this situation, the better. She blanched when he said her name, he hadn't called her DiAngelo in a long time, only when they'd first met, and only on the pitch in competitive jest, never in anger. The way he said it now sounded dark, furious, and she shivered involuntarily. She didn't recognize this person, and she had trouble reconciling him to the Taranis she had come to know.
She opened her mouth to defend herself when he mentioned her promise, but he interrupted her. Her mouth snapped closed again, and she seriousy considered standing there in silence rather than give him the satisfaction of asking this question. She had a strong suspicion about what had happened. The footsteps in the hallway had been Umbridge's, and he'd been caught in her place. While she felt terrible about the idea, she wasn't sorry she'd gone last night, only sorry she'd been caught, and that by association he'd been caught.
She was, however, not one bit relieved in this moment, and after a long silent moment she finally whispered in a small voice: "what happened Taran?"

He was very quick to respond, having been rolling the words around in his mouth, thinking about them, wondering what would get the point across the most. He sprung up suddenly stopping just short of her face as he yelled out "I WALKED INTO A TRAP MEANT FOR YOU!!!" His voice echoing off the walls sounded in the immediate silence afterwards, adding to the effect. After a half a minute, his eyes dropped and he said "Umbridge was there, looking for people hanging around that area. Whatever you are doing she's trying to find out. She accused me of being part of some group and tried to make me confess. When I wouldn't cause of course I didn't know" his eyes snapped back up to hers, accusing, "anything about what she was saying, she didn't believe me." That might have been the worst; he didn't like people questioning his honesty. He was aways truthful. That made this hurt all the worse. He got up and turned away, his hands shaking and he tried to make them into fists, control the shakes. Letting it out was just...so hard for him. All his life he had bottled up his frustrations and angers, knowing there was nothing he could do to change things. Taranis wanted to hit the wall, do somethingdestructive, release the pent up emotions inside which he hated, losing control in this way. "I got two weeks detention and lost twenty five points. I think I'm lucky I still have my badge, though she agreed to hold it till after the holiday." He turned back to look at her, his eyes not as wildly angry, but he was not in the slightest bit happy with her right now. It had dropped to a rolling boil, just under the surface. "She's holding off because of the contract. Otherwise I think she was going to force me to stay at Hogwarts for the break, if you can imagine that. It would have ruined everything so I told her I had to sign a contract for my family this first week." He turned away again, feeling it would be better if he didn't look at her while he spoke. "Whatever you were doing, Rosalie, you can't tell me. She's going to press me more about it, force me to consider it. I have to ask you something very serious though and it's not hard to understand why I need to know this." He looked at the floor, listening carefully to her movements and sounds, wondering what she would answer. "If you had told me before this that you had a secret, but you couldn't tell me what, only promise me that I wouldn't have a problem with it or that someone like Dumbledore might approve, I'd have been good with that. But you didn't. You kept a secret from me, something you told me you would not do."He let out his breath, just wishing there was an easy way to overcome this, but the damage was done. It would take a lot of convincing by her to him now that she was being truthful now and she probably already knew that. GODS what bad timing, right at the moment of what they had planned; why hadn't she warned him off? "Now it's going to be much harder for you to convince me, I think, that you are not doing something wrong." He waited a minute, wondering what this was going to do to them and this contract. "But I need you to convince me, Rosalie. I don't want to be angry, I HATE this feeling inside of me. I feel like you betrayed my trust. Can you tell me you have not?"

The sudden added volume made her jump, and she bumped her head against the stone. She flinched, and rubbed the spot gingerly. Her eyes widened and her expression turned horrified. She glanced covertly at his hands when he said the word detention, but they were clear. Her relief was only temporary, however, when he told her the detention had been delayed. She frowned, looking very much as though she wanted to cry. She forced her sense of calm to return by sheer force of will, she would not break down, she deserved this, or at least, some of this, and she woud take it with as straight a face as she could manage.
When he turned his back on her, she resisted the urge to move toward him, to wrap her arms around him as she did so often these days. She was the cause of his anger, and she doubted her touch would sooth him just now. She waited until he turned back around, listening intently to every word he spoke. She felt lower than sludge at the moment, and she hoped he could see that. She couldn't tell him of course, even if he'd wanted her to, and she was grateful for small favors in the fact that he didn't. He was smart enough not to ask, and for that she thanked Merlin and whoever else was listening.
Rosalie almost smiled, yes she certainly could tell him that. His back was still turned, and she could no longer withstand the draw to comfort him. She wrapped her arms around his waist, laying her cheek against his back as she spoke softly, a slight tremor in her voice. "Yes Taranis, I can promise you that I haven't betrayed you." She paused, looking for the words that would tell him what he wanted to know without giving away what he could not.
"I would have told you if I could have", she told him honestly. "Maybe I should have made more of an effort to find a way." She closed her eyes, "I am doing what I believe to be the right thing, and yes I believe Dumbledore would whole-heartedly approve." She released him, only to walk around so that she was standing in front of him, she took both of his hands in hers. "I am protecting those I love, Taranis, including you. That is all I can tell you, and it has to be enough." She met his eyes, willing him to understand. "I know you're hurt, and I'm sorry you got caught in my place. More sorry than you probably could understand. We've been friends for a long time, and I need you to trust me, I know its hard, I know this isn't fair to you, but I have to do what I know is right."
She took a deep breath, wondering if he would simply turn and walk away. She wouldn't blame him if he had. She decided that as long as she was being honest, she he might as well go for it. "I love you, Taranis, I may not be in love with you, but I do love you, and I would never betray you. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to be hurt, and I'm sorry it had to be you. Please, I know it might not be possible now, but please try to forgive me for this, for not telling you, for not being able to tell you now, I promise there's a reason and its a good one, but I can't even tell you why." Her expression read sheer remorse, she didn't know what else to say, there wasn't much else she could say. It was up to him now.
"Well...say something."

He could have expected her first response when he finished as she slid her arms around his waist. Trying to hold onto the anger which he felt was right, he still felt her personal space affect him, working away on his resolve. He heard the tremor and took some satisfaction (what little there was) that he had gotten through to her and made his point. At the same time he wanted to turn around and hold her, tell her everything would be okay. Tough call. He listened as she spoke, not looking up till she released him and came around in front. In her eyes he could see her sadness seeing she knew she had messed up on some level, even if she sounded like she had a good reason. Saying it, however, did help a lot, hearing her say she had not betrayed him even as he couldn't see how she had not. The words that caught his attention though were, predictably, the 'love' ones. he nodded as she spoke, hearing her say she needed him and his trust. She was in earnest, but it was also possible to see she wasn't sure he could accept what she was saying and that probably sold him the most. "I'm not happy, Rosalie, I'm not. I hate feeling this way, I really do. You don't want to put me in this spot again, you hear?" He gripped her hands back, reminding himself not to squeeze too much. This was still going to be hard indeed. "Look, Rosalie," he didn't release her hands but kicked a chair out and sat down in it facing her, his face still with a frown. He left it open if she sat on his lap or not, but he didn't release her hands either. "Mom always told me that relationships have to be built on trust. I really believe that. I need to feel that I can trust you to have you at my back in all things."He looked into her eyes, searching for a sign she understood this need he had, to know she was solid. "I do love you, Ree-love, much as it's hard to tell right this minute and I want to believe you. I need that. And if you say it's good, I will. But we can't afford to start off this way on such a big step either, you know? Half my anger is fear of what this could do." His face lightened slightly, though his eyes still showed a confusion behind his facade. In a way he wanted to believe her just because she was Rosalie and while she teased him and messed with him whenever possible, he truly didn't believe she was a back stabber. "I think you have to expect me to be a bit shaken about this for a bit though. I've never lost so many points before and it's like a smack in the face. I think...you're off the hook. I'm still not happy about all this, I don't like getting hit with surprises. Maybe we'd better say probation. This really yanked my chain and hard, that woman is such a..." If he had been in a better frame of mind this was the moment he might have asked how she was going to compensate for those points, but he wasn't about to do that at this moment.

Had Rosalie been a little more comfortable with this situation, she would have given him a 'well duh' look and made a joke about stating the obvious. However, as it stood, she did neither, choosing instead to nod. She was hesitant to release him, but even moreso to sit in his lap, and her sense of self preservation won out. She wasn't taking anything for granted right now. She picked up another chair, and sat it across from him, before seating herself. While they were within arm's reach of each other, she made no move to touch him again. "I understand", she told him softly. "I really do, and I'm so sorry about all this. I'll make it up to you Taran, however you like, really."
Rose wouldn't have said this to just anyone, especially not to just any guy, but she trusted Taranis to take care of her, and what's more not to take advantage of her. She looked up at him with pleading eyes, she felt the wall between them that this breech had created, and was all at once almost overwhelmingly sad. She still didn't cry, she woudn't, it was the only way she knew to convey that he could trust her not to manipulate him.
Her hands, which were at the moment clasped tightly in her lap, whitened around the knuckles with the concentration she was exerting to give him his space. She wanted so badly to feel close to him, she missed it more in this moment than she would have thought possible even a few days ago. It was amazing what you took for granted until you were threatened with the possability of its loss. "Please don't be afraid, Taran, its all going to be okay, one way or another, it really will."
She nodded her understanding, still frowning, still sad. She had expected this, worse than this in fact. He was being lenient, but she still felt the emotional distance between them like a physical injury, made worse by the knowledge that she had done it, and must now live with the consequences until he could trust her fully again. "Take as long as you need, Taran, I'm willing to earn your trust again, however long it takes me." She met his eyes hesitantly, "what can I do? What will it take?"

Wow, she really did sound like she regretted it. He watched her release his hands and pull another chair up in front of him and couldn't say that he blamed her. There was a....wall of some kind between them that she was being careful about. Not surprising on second thought. "I.... I don't know what to tell you, Rosalie. I've never been in this position before. We'll have to fumble along the hard way I guess." He shook his head, a touch irritated at moving too slow when he wanted to get past this, find a way to continue somehow. Reaching out he touched her hand, the knuckles tight and on edge. He rubbed her knuckles softly, trying to make her relax her grip. "I'm not afraid, really, it's more like worried I guess." His eyes glanced back up from her knuckles at her words. Well, that was certainly a straight line waiting. The corner of his mouth twitched a bit, but he resisted. "Um. You know what, Rosalie, I think you should suggest stuff maybe. I don't think I can think right now. Does that make sense? I want this back, but not at your expense either."That would be worse, trying to gain back where they had been and hurt her in the process. One step forward, two back. Was this the way relationships worked, back and forth? Frustrating indeed, not something he liked the sound of. "Look," he tried this time and succeeded in capturing the end of the fingers on one hand, at least a half a hand grip. "Say something, talk, let's find some way past this. I miss you already, is that like insane? How come you get to me so easily?"

Rosalie bit her lip, it was obvious that real damage had been done, and equally obvious that she had no idea how to fix this in short order. Maybe there wasn't a way, and that thought unnerved her even more. He looked irritated, and so it was with slight hesitance that she told him. "Me either, where's a time turner when you need one?" Rosalie had read about time turners while doing an ancient runes assignment, but everyone new they'd all been destroyed a very long time ago. She sighed, "I didn't think it would be that easy, but I hoped." She shrugged. She wasn't used to frowning so much, and her face was beginning to hurt.
When he touched her, she relaxed her hands, and moved one so she could hold his again. She nodded understanding, "I get that", she answered softly. She smiled, he was so polite, a rarity these days. She wrinkled her nose, thinking. "I could...give you a piggyback ride to the kitchens?" The image made her laugh, "or well, I could try anyway."It was the first real smile she could remember all morning, and it felt good. "We'll figure it out", she told him, "it might just take some time."
At his question, she gave him a mischievous smile. "Is it because I'm such a good kisser?" she teased. She laughed softly. "I think it's because we've gotten so used to being close to each other, and its odd to be on opposite sides of something now." She took his other hand, rubbing his knuckles in much the same way he'd done to her a few moments before. "I'm pretty sure this is the first time that's ever happened to us, and we're not used to disagreeing about anything important."
She released his hands and stood up. After returning the chair to its proper place, she smiled and settled herself in his lap. Turning so that they could see each other's eyes. "You're much more comfortable than the chair", she told him. "I couldn't help myself." She still felt tense, and she knew they had a long way to get back to how things had been, but it was a step, and that was the important thing.

He did try not to snort, but the image of her carrying him around on her back was rather funny, so he ended up nearly doing it, sucking in a bunch of air and quickly opening his moth to let it back out in a soundless laugh. "I think I did just mention not hurting you either, doofus. I think my weight alone would break you before we got to the door and we're already downstairs this time..." After he rubbed her knuckles some she opened her hand and took his which felt right somehow, as if was as natural as breathing. He did smile at that, a touch of his old humor in his face. Clearly just talking this out was helping some at the very least. "True, except the entire Badgers over Lions thing. And really, we both know male lions in the wild are lazy and sexist letting the women do all the work whereas Badgers have been known to attack lions before." His smile hadn't grown way bigger, but it was there as she sat in his lap. Leaning forward he gave her a peck on the cheek and hugged her close as she admitted he was far more comfortable. Damn it, how he could stay mad at her? "You know," he said while snuggling her close, "This is really unfair of you to soften me up this way. There I was trying to stay justifiably mad and you have to remind me of why I love you so much being all funny and comforting." He stuck out his tongue at her even though their faces were side by side and she could barely see it. "Gah, what am I going to do with you? You still owe me, but yeah I can't stay mad at you, Rosalie, you trouble maker you. Put out your hand," and he slapped the back of her hand playfully like she was being chastised. "There, damn it."

Her lips quirked, he was trying his hardest not too laugh, but she could tell he was losing the battle. She hadn't really expected to get off easy, but she'd take what she could get. "Okay", she gave in. "Maybe not on my back, but I could levitate you." The image of her levitating a relaxing Taranis through the halls was almost as funny as the first picture had been. Her eyes brightened considerably at the difference in his tone and body language. She'd just have to find a way to make it up to him, find something that mattered. Wait! Christmas was coming up, she'd have to find something very special to do for him, something he wouldn't soon forget.
Rosalie burst out laughing, and the sound echoed off the chamber walls as she swatted at him playfully. "Lions are very strong, brave, respectable creatures, male or female I'll have you know!" She shook her head, "besides, a badger is part of the weasle family, and no, I'm not talking about the Weasleys so don't you start!" She was crying now, tears of mirth running down her cheeks. She knew she shouldn't be, but she was just so relieved! She couldn't stand the thought of not having Taranis around to make her days brighter, it just didn't bear thinking about. While she understood they still had a long way to go, they had already made a surprising amount of progress, and for that Rose was grateful.
She was surprised when he pulled her close to him, and even moreso when he spoke. "All's fair in love and war", she answered him cheekily, "and quidditch, but well, that's neither here nor there." She saw him stick his tongue out from the corner of her eye. "Hey now", she chastised, "put that back where it belongs." She gave him a stern look that strongy resembled McGonagall, before it melted into a warm grin. "I really will make it up to you, Taran, as soon as I figure out how." And she would, she had no idea what she was going to do, but she promised herself she would find a way. She poked him in the side, and then in the stomache. "You're no fun to poke, Taranis", she informed him. "There isn't anything there."
She obliged him, sticking her hand out obediently, not quite sure where this was headed. She was somewhat surprised when he rapped her across the knuckles, but the playful look on his face made her chuckle. "Trouble maker?" she gave him an innocent look, "me?" Her eyes widened into the picture of all things pure. "I resent that", she told him. "I have never been trouble a day in my life!" Her expression melted, "well, okay, maybe once or twice."

His first thought was to say how he didn't want Rosalie doing anything on her back except him, but fortunately his brain got ahead of his tongue and stopped him from putting his foot in his mouth. That comment would have gotten him smacked for sure. He did manage to recover enough to chuckle as she refuted his comments about Lions. "They can be all that at the same time they are sexist and lazy, Rosalie. And hey, that was a compliment about how hard you work! I was just saying don't coddle the guys in your dorm, they need the exercise.." His smile was much more normal, getting there. He even smiled at her tongue comment. "Now now, soon it might have a second home..." and winked hoping to make her blush. He did sigh actually at the idea of her having to. "I know you will. I trust you, remember? What does she do to people in these detentions, by the way? might be good to know what all she's done so I can get myself ready for it. I know she did something to your hand, but I don't exactly what that was about."Again with the poking. "Hey, I don't sit around on my vacations, I have stuff to work on for the rest of the year. More now, since I'm expecting company, silly one. I don't want any fat down there and you wouldn't play with it anyway, just poke me." As an experiment he poked her back, softly with maybe a smidgen of tickle at the end of it. He then walked his fingers around her rib cage. "Oh say, this is fun, I have to remember this spot!" He grinned at her, expecting a revenge tactic of some kind.

Rosalie grinned, had she not been watching his face, she’d have missed it. There was definitely a thought there, one he had had to restrain himself from sharing. She shook her head and mumbled something like “boys…” under her breath. She was laughing now, “I do not coddle anyone!” she said adamantly, “except possibly you.” She stuck her tongue out at him petulantly. “And we all know Lions don’t coddle Badgers…in fact…don’t they eat them?” Her eyes sparkled mischievously. “If we’re going by your line of thinking I should have attacked you by now.” She smiled, “I still might, you never know”, she gave him a look as though she were trying to look intimidating, but failed miserably. “Well, so much for that idea.”
Rose did her best not to blush, since she understood he was doing it on purpose, but she couldn’t help herself. She flushed rosy crimson and sent him a mock glare. “Might being the operative word”, she reiterated. She had obviously never French kissed anyone before, and she wondered briefly what that might be like. She often heard some of the girls in her dorm talking about it, and the way they spoke it sounded…terribly complicated. She was jolted from her thoughts by his question about detention, and she frowned. “Well…” She hesitated; afraid telling him might make him mad at her again. She sighed, “She has this special quill she has you use for her detentions, it…it uses your b-blood instead of ink.” She rubbed her thumb self-consciously over the almost faded marks on her hand. “Hence why whatever she has you write is inscribed in your skin until it heals." She looked up at him with an infinite sense of remorse. She laid her head on his chest, “I’m so sorry Taran, I never meant to….what I mean is…I don’t know what I mean, I’m just so sorry”, and she was, more than even she would have thought possible. “Maybe we can brew a polyjuice potion over the holidays and I can do the detention for you?” she offered, and she would have, bad as she felt right now. She was at least guilty of the crime he was being accused of, but Taranis was guilty of no more than being concerned about her, and here came the overwhelming feelings of guilt again. “I’m serious, I’ll do it.”
She gave him an indignant look. “Hey! I won’t sit around on vacations either, I have cleaning and cooking and gardening and…” She paused, “okay I see your point.” Was all she said for a moment, and then, “but it’s still a lot of work mind you, mum has me do it the muggle way. She says it’s important to learn things the hard way so you never take magic for granted.” She bit her lip, she hadn’t meant to make more work for him, but then, she now had to clean the guest bedroom and make sure it was ready for him too, so she at least understood somewhat. She flinched when he started poking her. “Hey!” She giggled, actually giggled, “stop that!” When he spoke about remembering the spot she shook her head, “no you shouldn’t”, she corrected. She ran searching fingers across his stomach and up his ribcage, over his chest, searching for a spot that might affect him the same way. She couldn’t find one, and she pouted. “That isn’t fair!” she lamented.

Now the first line he had resisted, but she said the second one herself, even if it wasn't intended that way. Maybe she didn't know the slang, ut if she hadn't heard it in the dorm by now... He gave her a suspicious, but teasing glance. "You would...eat me? Wow, I had no idea you wanted to move so quickly..." It was barely three seconds he could keep a grin off his face. As she blushed he kissed her cheek and added "Yeah no, I'm having trouble seeing that in my mind. You are far too nice a girl to be that way. Sorry, I couldn't resist teasing you."As he asked her about detentions, he could feel her grow more serious, get a bit stiffer as if the subject was not something she wanted to say much about. But when she mentioned the blood part he sat up suddenly, shocked by what she said. His eyes grew very large as he looked at her. "Rosalie! That's dark magic for sure! And Dumbledore agrees with this?" He had never thought a detention would be that fun with the woman certainly, but he had no idea what she was really doing. This sounded horrible. "Painful?" he asked certain it was. He shot her a look and was shamed at himself for actually considering it for a second. "No. You will not. You might want to and I can understand why, Rosalie, but no, you have a secret to keep and I'm going to do it for you." he grimaced, knowing he was taking a punishment he didn't deserve, but she was his friend if nothing else and he suspected considerably more. And just like his family (as she was rapidly becoming) he would do anything for her. "I'll do it and you can help me get ready and commiserate with me after each one. If I'm doing it two weeks long, that should give you plenty of time to think of ways to make it up to me, right?"He smirked at her response, but she did concede the point so he didn't push it. "Cleaning and cooking and gardening, huh? Well the gardening certainly is a good base for what I do. Expand the gardening concept by about, oh, six or seven fields not a yard. And then there is wall rebuilds, roofing, rock clean up, plowing- - well you get the picture. With the house finished it won't be nearly that much work thank goodness." He watched in amusement as she tried to find a reverse tickle spot and decided he actually enjoyed feeling her try, though she was no where near his only spot. He'd have to remember to speak to his sisters about keeping their mouth's shut. "Fair? You just said all is fair in love and war. I do have a spot, but you won't find it that easy and I don't think you're interested in what that might lead to yet. I mean, Merlin, Rosalie, we're not even contracted yet and you want in my pants..." His eyes twinkled mischievously, knowing he was teasing her unfairly, but she did owe him at the moment and her blush was very cute. Taranis tweaked her nose anyway with a soft laugh. Damn her for being so far inside his mind already!

At first, Rosalie was confused…did ‘eat’ have a double meaning? She ran through her memory of many elicit dorm conversations, and at first, couldn’t remember anything. Then she paused, a conversation from a few days ago came back to her, and her entire face subsequently glowed red. “Taranis Serphan Summerby!” it was the only coherent thought she could force out at that moment. “That is Not what I meant!” She slapped him on the arm, not hard enough to do any real damage, but with enough behind it that he would understand she meant it. “You better bloody believe it”, she was still embarrassed. She managed a sardonic smile when spoke of not being able to resist, “obviously”, she agreed with just a touch of sarcastic good humor.
She shook her head, “I don’t think he agrees, though I’m sure he knows.” She sighed, "then again it’s almost easier to believe he has no idea.” She rubbed her thumb against his knuckles. The idea that he would have that scar on the back of his hand, just as she did, and that she would have to live with knowing she was the cause made her incredibly sad, and the guilt began to eat at her again, she frowned. She nodded, looking decidedly depressed. “It feels like someone’s dragging a needle through your skin while you use it. Afterwards, it just burns for about a week, and then it starts to heal. Mine hasn’t gone away yet, but it’s faded. “ She was almost massaging his hand now, looking at intently with a frown on her face.
Her eyes met his, and she was struck by what an amazing guy he truly was. To willingly put himself on the line for her, trusting that the secret he couldn’t even know was worth keeping and this after she had lied to him about it…well…it boggled her. She turned her head, and leaned into him, pressing her lips to his softly for a moment. “Thank you Taranis, truly, you’ve been more incredible than I have any right to expect.” She pulled back, listening and grinned gently. “Of course, anything you need, you know that.” She tapped her chin as though she were thinking, “I’m sure I could come up with something” she said after a moment or two.
She pouted at him, “we can’t all live on a farm you know, there isn’t exactly room for much more than a garden around the house” she pointed out. She pictured what he was saying thoughtfully. “Well, at least if I did need to learn to do those things, by that time I could use magic.” She tried to picture herself lifting boulder size rocks and laughed. “I’ll work on it”, she promised him. She gave him a frustrated look when she couldn’t find a spot that made him laugh. “Well, you’re no fun!” she insisted, sticking her tongue out at him.
She glared at him, “I do not! Well…I do but…what I mean is.” She closed her mouth, took a breath, and opened it again. “I’m going to tell Gran you need a lesson in proper pureblood gentleman behavior”, she threatened. “That ought to get you a two hour long lecture and a pureblood history lesson.” Her eyes twinkled wickedly at him.
