4 Apr 14, 12:14 AM
Ally: She sat on the cliff's edge, arms propped on her knees, looking out at the water. It had been a week since she'd gone to London to meet Cameron and had her near-miss with her father. She brushed her fingers over her side touching both cloth and bare skin in the tank top she wore. She'd kept it hidden from her parents, knowing her mother would disapprove and unsure how her father would respond, especially since she was nearly positive he knew someone had been in her room that night. She wondered for a brief moment what Cameron was doing, where Aiden was. She missed them both for very different reasons, and sleeping alone after so many days with someone else had taken some adjusting anyway.
4 Apr 14, 12:19 AM
Vincent: Sent by his wife to round up the kids for a lesson in something, VIn had found the wind near the manor too much for flying so was walking fairly sure where Ally would be. spotting her by the cliff and knowing she wouldn't be able to hear him due to the surf, he walked right up to her. He was almost there when he saw the line down her side and tilted his head curious till he got closer and saw the sleeves she had tossed aside to hide it. One and one made two and he was smirking as he suddenly without much warning sat down beside her.
4 Apr 14, 12:21 AM
Ally: He sat down next to her and she jumped only slightly before she turned her head. The tattoo was gone in an instant. "Hi dad"
4 Apr 14, 12:31 AM
Vincen: He grinned at her. "Too late, saw it. Italian right?" he waited for her to react, playing his cards smooth as always, waiting for her to speak before he let her know whether she was in trouble or not
4 Apr 14, 12:34 AM
Ally: She very briefly considered playing dumb, and for a longer moment considered telling him it wasn't real, but this was her father, and she never lied to him. Withheld information in the case of Cameron in her room the one time, but never lied. The ink reappeared and she nodded. "Live with no regrets" she told him. "I thought it fit." She watched his eyes carefully, but they betrayed nothing yet. She had now idea whether she was in trouble or not, and it earned him a frustrated look. Why couldn't he have a lecturing voice like other dads?
4 Apr 14, 12:46 AM
Vincen: "Well you're not in trouble for that, but mom will have to wait a minute while we talk. COuple of issues I have with this you need to understand. Although if you had just gotten some mindless we would be having this talk in front of mom, understood?"
4 Apr 14, 12:46 AM
Vincen: *thing
4 Apr 14, 12:50 AM
Ally: She nodded. Okay, so not in trouble for the tattoo, but then, what? "Understood" Her eyes had widened slightly at the thought of having to talk about this in front of her mother, she might have even flinched.
4 Apr 14, 12:55 AM
Vincen: He nodded at her short answer, pleased with his daughter's directness and understanding. that made things so much easier. "Okay so, yes you picked something which means something, that's good. But first off, you got that before you were sixteen. And I want to remind you there's still another year of us protecting you before you are off on your own to screw up or make it as you see fit. We'll always love you, but as parents we took on a great responsibility to make sure you were just not safe, but that we would teach you about right and wrong and how to watch out for life mistakes." He breathed out, a frown appearing, though not a deep one. "Not telling me at least you were thinking about getting one feels a bit like a smack in the face with no regards about what I see my job as. Got me so far?"
4 Apr 14, 01:02 AM
Ally: She nodded. "Got you" she said, softer than before and with a bit of a guilty look in the eyes. She should have known the not telling would bother him. "I'm sorry, I just wasn't sure how you'd react and..." She'd been afraid he'd say no. Doing something she thought he might be against was one thing, going directly against him was another. She goes quiet, waiting for him to continue.
4 Apr 14, 01:06 AM
Vincen: He nodded, his frown lessening some. "Right, you did what you wanted to, knowing I might have said no to it. I totally got that part." He reached over and took her chin a second, looking down into her eyes. "But that's my choice, dearheart, and if something had gone wrong, I would consider myself having failed. That choice is not yours to make yet. My heart and your mothers also rest on those decisions and that part I am a bit angry about. Don't do something like that again without at least owling me and waiting for a response before you are legal. All right?" there was a touch of worry in his eyes.
4 Apr 14, 01:16 AM
Ally: He had a knack for getting to the heart of things, maybe she'd gotten it from him. When he took her chin, she found it hard to look him in the eye. She tried, but found her gaze darting past him, above him, anywhere but directly into his eyes. That worried look was hard to take. If it had gone...what could have gone wrong? But she knew there were a million things. If she had gotten hurt or lost. If Cameron hadn't known what he was doing. She'd trusted him to take care of her, but her father had no such assurances, and she realized she'd been a little foolish with that part. Cam was only sixteen after all, not much older than she was. He continued, speaking over her thoughts. "I won't" she told him sincerely. "I didn't mean to worry you guys. We just went to London and back, nothing..." and then she realized her mistake. She'd very clearly said 'we'. "What I mean is..." she flinched, and before she could stop herself. "d@mn it" she murmured under her breath.
4 Apr 14, 01:23 AM
Vincen: He smirked and his eyes said it all; he had already known about the boy. "Oh yeah, a bit muscled for you I would have thought. that surprised me." And his eyes also said her mother didn't know much about that prt, but VIn had already long ago set up anti-pregnancy charms under his daughters bed in particular as well as her brothers. "But thank for confirming my daughter tries to keep things from her father she thinks he will object to." Pursing his lips he said after a moment "See, if you talk to me first, I can give you a break somewhat. Without telling me, mom hears it first off. Have ou at least learned the charm by now? Please tell me I didn't raise a reckless girl."
4 Apr 14, 01:33 AM
Ally: The look in his eyes was worth a thousand words. He had known, just as she had suspected. "His name is Cameron" she shrugged. On the list of conversations she did not fancy having with her father, this was at least top ten. She wanted to deny the statement, knew that she couldn't, so she sighed. "I...." what could she say? "It just kind of happened, it wasn't something I planned on really. The thing with Cameron I mean, not the tattoo." That she had most definitely planned. There it was, her father rarely ever looked very typically father-ish, but the look on his face just then. She shrank, not out of fear but rather guilt. She hated disappointing him. Her eyes widen "mom knows?" Surely not, she'd have heard about it by now. She gives him a look, which breaks through the respectful demeanor somewhat and leaves her age showing. "You did raise a reckless girl, but not a stupid one. Yes, he taught it to me after the first..." the sentence breaks off suddenly. "I know it."
4 Apr 14, 01:40 AM
Vincen: "Good name. Hopefully more brains then he looked." Of course, Vin certainly hoped his daughter only went after quality guys. Like father like daughter, he would have to give Keela that fifty galleons. "Sort of a celebration of pulling it off I mean The tattoo of course is what I was thinking of..." She'd better not be celebrating pulling one over on her old man. Gah, was he that kind of father? He shuddered slightly. "Not yet, been trying to think how to tell her. Your answers to the rest of this conversation will influence that a lot." He laughed out loud. "Ah yes, like father like daughter. Good. Seems your mother was right who you would take after." His eyes looked suddenly worried about that, spoiling the laughte rin his face as he remembered some of what he had done.
4 Apr 14, 01:46 AM
Ally: She arched an eyebrow at him. "Of course" She shrugged, "I guess. It was kind of...heat of the moment." She felt less embarrassed than just awkward. Ally didn't embarrass easily, especially not with her father. She looked at him for a long moment, wondered what he was thinking. Long shot, but she had to try. "Couldn't we just...not tell her?" They did, after all, have a secret or two between them, but she doubted this would be allowed to that category. Her mother, she knew, hadn't been with anyone except her father, and she blanched at the idea of having to tell her she'd given her virginity to someone she didn't even love, much less intend to marry. That caught her attention, quickly, and it was obvious. "Ask away" She smirked, "Luke is just like mom, did you really think I was going to follow suit?" His face changed, the amusement faded, and she studied him. "Dad? What's wrong?"
4 Apr 14, 01:53 AM
Vincen: He looked her in the eye for a moment before he said softly "Ally. You know what I see when I see you? Not just my daring and beautiful daughter, but her bueaty reflected in your face, knowing she wanted me to be your father, cherished me for such a deep and abiding moment as that. Think about how that makes me feel, the idea of lying or concealing something from her directly, something she is as worried about as I was. Your first boy..." he sighed and shook his head. "No, this conversation will only say how I spin it." After a moment of remembering, his eyes focused back on her. "Uh, maybe someday I will tel lyou. But not this moment. Ask me again when you next send me an owl about what you are thinking of getting in trouble doing." He sighed. This was harder then he had thought it would be. "There is something else we need to talk about Ally, and it's more serious I'm afraid."
4 Apr 14, 01:57 AM
Ally: It was his romantic side, she decided, coming out in that. He was a bit surprising that way she guessed, and she wondered if it had been one of the things that drew her mother. "I...didn't think about it like that' she admitted. "Okay, I get it, you have to tell her." She sounds, if possible, even less enthused by that prospect, but she is resigned to it. She smirked, thinking of how Cameron would react to being called 'boy'. But he had said first, implying there would be more. She'd known that, of course, but she hadn't thought about it much, Cameron had a way of taking over whatever spot he was placed in in a person's life she wagered. "Okay, I will." She tensed, looking up at him with an expression that communicated just how much she dreaded what was on the other end of that sentence, "Okay"
4 Apr 14, 02:03 AM
Vincen: He nodded. "It's one of the things you learn when you pick someone for life, Ally, that you give them everything you have, every day, every second. That kind of trust should never be betrayed. Remember that and it's a lesson I am willing to see reflected in your eyes." He sighed again, feeling like he was doing that too much. "You also have a lot of my mom in you, and she has a certain disregard for all laws which she can work her way around." He pulled her into a hug and touched her nose with the tip of his finger. "I see it in your eyes, but there's a difference. She has the money, age, and will to drive it into those she has already terrorized in the past to pull off stuff she shouldn't get away with. She has a way of ignoring limits and you have some of that, but not nearly as much as she has. And she already had half the school under her thumb by your age."
4 Apr 14, 02:07 AM
Ally: She makes a face. 'For life' was a very long time. "I don't think I'll ever..." She shakes her head, "the rest of my life is really long time dad" Especially to spend with one person. She grinned at the thought of his mother, who she loved being around very much. "She's awesome" she declared, eyes bright. There was a certain envy in her look as he continued. "I bet you broke a lot of rules too" she accuses, going into his arms easily enough and softening when he touched her nose, though she wrinkled it at him. "I don't want half the school" she assured him, then couldn't resist adding. "Maybe like a quarter"
4 Apr 14, 02:12 AM
Vincen: Yeah, he could hear it in her. She was way too much like his mother and that was what scared him. "Yes wel lthe point is with this tattoo you've already broken the law, which was placed there to keep kids who couldn't change their skin from making life long marks they were stuck with, and regreting years later. Plus, to avoid that law a lot of kids went in the past to the slightly more illegal places where some of them got diseases from the needles and disfiguring, mispelled tats they couldn't remove either. Regardless, that law was there to make sure people thought first. And you didn't care it seems, you faked it and went ahead. That's the problem we have to talk about. Where people do it once, it's easier to break it again, and another maybe bigger one... And our family has a large percentage of dark wizards and witches you know."
4 Apr 14, 02:15 AM
Ally: She arched an eyebrow at him. "But I'm not those kids" she argued, feeling she had a relatively good point, "and I'm not a muggle, our immune systems are different." Another look as he continued, this one slightly offended. "Dad, I got a tattoo, its not like I've been out cursing people or something." She didn't see the connection, it was such a big leap, wasn't it?
4 Apr 14, 02:20 AM
Vincen: He shook his head. "I didn't say you so much as the law is there for a reason. And yeah, I did do a lot of stuff I should have gottne my behind smacked for, but none of them were the law in truth." Rules at school were something he wasn't going to go into. "Take the forbidden forest. There are a number of reasons to keep kids out of there, including the ones that suck your organs out through their fangs and eat you alive before there could be any possibilty of escape. You don't know all of those till the seventh year classes, but the rule is there to protect you for that very reason. When you edge or work your way around it, you expose yourself to things we can't protect you from. And if you go in the forest and survive by luck of the moment, don't you think you'd be tempted to try it again?"
4 Apr 14, 02:23 AM
Ally: She listened, she really did, and when he had finished she was forced to admit he had a point, grudgingly. "Probably" she admitted. Her eyes told him she understood what he was trying to tell her. "So how do you distinguish between the ones that are breakable and the ones that aren't?" She'd never have asked her mother this question, but she expected her father to understand what she meant.
4 Apr 14, 02:29 AM
Vincen: Pursing his lips, Vin removed his finger from her nose and tapped his own head. "Unfortuantely experience. I pushed a lot of boundaries, but I never completely broke the laws and you know what? I got the best reward in the world for that." he touched her cheek with fingers ever so lightly as his voice dropped. "I got the chance to have you as my daughter." The implication was deep; if Vin had been a law breaker, he would never have won Keela and never had Ally and her brother. It also implied that the holding back led to greater rewards. "We've always had law breakers in our family, love, but I can show you the historyof most of them. They had horribly tough lives and lost limbs, eyes, legs, all kinds of tortures and pursuits. They lived rough and got rough because of it. And you have a chance still to toe a line to some degree and still have things the way you'd like them within reason. Cross the Ministry and things go downhill pretty fast. I can't protect you from all of that, only help, you understand me? Even your grandmother doesn't have enough weight to throw around to get you out of anything, though she'd like to think so. And she nearly died after each child she had because of some of that..."
4 Apr 14, 02:34 AM
Ally: What he was telling her was a great deal to take in and it did, as intended, sink in and take root somewhere deep down, a reminder that there were consequences for her actions, sometimes those consequences were much bigger than she was willing to face. "I'll be careful, and I won't do anything illegal again, I promise." She meant it. Breaking school rules was one thing, but she had begun to realize breaking the law was another. She snuggled into his chest, more child than woman in that moment despite her recent experience. "I"m really sorry I scared you" she told him.
4 Apr 14, 02:50 AM
Vincen: This time the words stuck and he hugged her tightly as she responded, making sure she felt the fact he still loved her, not needing to say the words with this one. He kissed the top of her head and whispered to her ear "Well that's good. I can accept your word. I trust you, Ally, to find your own way, but I'm going to take care of you as long as I can, you know. But yes please, don't scare me too much, all right? If I had gone down that track, you wouldn't be here. WHo knows what miricle you will have of your own if you remember it? I want you to be as blissfully in love as I am. Really." And when he released her he stood, helpined her up. "Come on. We're going to go back and you are going t hug your mother very tightly and she's going to teach you and your brother something and then tonight once you've gone to bed I'll talk to her."
Ally: She sat on the cliff's edge, arms propped on her knees, looking out at the water. It had been a week since she'd gone to London to meet Cameron and had her near-miss with her father. Where people do it once, it's easier to break it again, and another maybe bigger one... And our family has a large percentage of dark wizards and witches you know."
