He grinned at her response and patted her leg again. "I'm sure there will be others." And hey, being told there was no such thing as a bad date with him was an extreme ego boost and a good omen all rolled into one! "Well! Thank you very much! I do try to do my best..." hearing she was talking about notes he nodded and agreed same time. "Sounds good, just don't make it only a page, try to make it sound like it's been going on all year; don't want her to think we just met literally, right?" He didn't think long before he added a comment as well.
"Let me get your address and I'll send a letter too. Introduce myself in a way. Especially if she went to school with my mother." He grinned ruefully, wondering if they had known each other or just by reputation. If by reputation he definitely needed to send a letter along at the same time! "Well you can tell her we're dating, that's not a big step at this point, but I did say if I thought you were ready for one I'd get one. You have not said you were really so no worries about the speed." Winter holiday? Was she thinking...
"Say, we could use a trip to each other's houses for an afternoon for the third date, just divide it in two. Half a date each place, meet family and see the space for real? It's much better up close, I promise." He looked very hopeful, as if seeing her place and his might be the deciding factor and would certainly settle things with his mom he was sure. "We should just plan it when Cern is over at Liliane's, right? Surely they are getting together as well. I'd rather meet your father when he doesn't have an angry son at his side, you know?" He grinned at her control comment, knowing she was probably right.
"Well then, I like your version of comfortable. Might have to encourage that for our next date... As to the death of you," he pulled her over suddenly his hands sliding up her back and tilting her forward as he leaned in to give her a kiss right at the base of her neck, "I'd rather" he moved up her neck "be the" a kiss on the end of her chin and a grin for her eyes "life of you!" And then he kissed her long and exploratory, not deepening desire.

She glanced up at him warily, not certain yet whether that could be considered good or bad thing just yet. "Are the others designed to turn my world upside down to?" Because that was what he'd done, left her feeling as though up was down and down was up, when she could tell the difference at all. Keela grinned, she could almost see his ego swelling. Eyes sparkling with mirth, she added, "not that I have much to compare to." The expression that greeted her statement was almost comical. "The date was wonderful Vin, I'm only picking on you." He had a point, and she turned to the fireplace, gazing at the dancing flames thoughtfully. "She knows your name, I wrote her for the wings for my costume last year. I'll just build on that." Her mum had been full of questions Keela hadn't been prepared to answer then. Keela knew she'd meant well, but she'd spent a lot of time the previous year carefully crafting her letters to evade her mum's inquiries.
"Sure", she struggled for a few moments to dig a piece of scrap parchment out of the pocket of her jeans. She concentrated on asking the room for a quill, but was still startled when one appeared at her feet. Scribbling down her address, she folded the note over and handed it to him. "Word of advice, address it to both of them, mum's a bit sensitive about being overlooked, something about the way their betrothal contract was written, and some spell on her wedding ring." Keela had no idea bout the complex magic surrounding the vows that had been made between her parents, though if she had troubled to notice her father never seemed to demand anything of her mother, not even when he was angry, which happened rarely. Keela smiled, "I'm pretty sure both my parents knew of your mother, and my aunts would have probably been pretty familiar since they were housemates." She could only imagine how her mother would react when she admitted to dating. Her grandparents might be a bit uncomfortable with her dating a Slytherin, house prejudice had run much deeper when they were in school. "I should warn you, both mum's parents were Gryffindors, not sure they'll be around for your visit, but heads up."
She was grateful that he was willing to wait for her to get used to the idea of him, of being with him for real. "If...when...I am ready, you'll be the first to know. I promise." She opened her mouth to protest. Was she ready to meet his family, ready to have him meet hers? The thoughts of what her younger siblings might say alone was enough to make her nervous about the idea, not to mention worrying about what Professor Silver and his mum might think of her. She smiled, "it could work", she admitted. "I can find out what Cern's plans with Lilli are and let you know." The smile faded, and a small crease indented her forehead. "But what if...what if they don't like me, your parents I mean?" Being in a house full of Slytherins made her anxious in the worst way, and she couldn't help feeling unprepared for the idea.
She blushed, and would have retorted if he hadn't distracted her so completely a moment later. He pulled her flush against him again, and the warmth ignited as though a spark had burst into inferno. He kissed her neck and she made as if to swat at him half heartedly before a small smile lit her expression. "That's not fair..." her voice lacked conviction as her breath caught. His lips rose, and her body warmed. She marveled at how quickly she could be undone again, after trying so hard to regain calm and control. When he reached her lips, she kissed him back, pouring in the remnants of her earlier frustration, she bit his lip playfully, intending to startle him. "If this is your idea of teaching me control", she paused to breathe deeply, "I think I'm not the only one who needs help mastering that ability."

"Designed? No. But do you really want to go around not knowing what everyone else in a solid relationship has already learned to their advantage? Cause I'd prefer not to leave you ignorant when as your boyfriend I should be taking care of you." He smiled, quietly. When she poked fun at him, he gave her a stare till she laughed and told him she was kidding, pulling his chain. "I told you you were a teaser, but I prefer the shirt tease more I think!" She quickly managed a piece of paper and a quill, writing down an address for him.
"Spell on-- Oh! Really? I would never have thought your parents had that kind of contract, wow." That was old school and something his father had told him about from the old days. Most modern witches wouldn't have stood for it so she must have really loved Keela's dad! Hearing there were Lions in the family he laughed out loud. "I won't hold it against them! Do they have trouble keeping their noses out of things?" She seemed to really appreciate his words, it calmed down her mind a bit he thought. He suspected it made it all the more likely as well, but he wouldn't prejudge his odds right now; he might not be superstitious, but that just made sense.
Her comment about his parents liking her or not he gave her an odd look for. "And why would that matter? I choose who I want to and love where I wish. You're already a pureblood so there won't be anyone else looking at us odd and my mom couldn't give a flip long as you don't hate them or try to screw up anyone whose family. My parents are only concerned that there are both Silvers and Moons for another generation. Now if you were a Death Eater, they'd tan my hide and lock me in the dungeons for a week as punishment." He gave a twisted look for a moment. "That's always been a nasty thing to mom, no matter how we might look at blood beyond that. Those people were freaking nuts. Are."
Turning her on now that he had her permission to touch places he couldn't before was so easy it was like candy. "Now Keela, why would I want to teach you how to control yourself around me..." he gave her a naughty look, something she was going to get used to very soon. "Seems very counter productive. I need to learn what gets you so I can do this kind of thing much more for you..."

Keela grinned at his logic. "I don't know that you could consider most relationships at our age 'solid' ", she thought about the screaming match she'd had to break up during rounds a few nights before. Some Ravenclaw had been going between two girls, unbeknownst to either. Then, when the girls finally had caught on, instead of getting angry with the cheating slime, they'd started trying to hex each other. Keela shook her head, hormones or no hormones, it still made very little sense to her. Boyfriend... Funny how he'd just made the assumption rather than come out and ask. Then again, it might seem a bit silly after everything they'd been through tonight to go through the formality. Still, she couldn't resist poking at him about it. "Boyfriend huh?" She dropped her chin into her hand, glancing at him with a mock-considering expression. "Where was I for that decision?" Afraid he'd take it as her rejecting him, she smiled mischievously at him to soften the sarcasm. She brushed her hair out of her face before tilting her head slightly. "Of course you do, its the Snake in you." It was actually the raging hormonal teenager in him, but at least while she was teasing him, she wasn't focused so much on her own feelings.
He seemed surprised by the idea of enchantments involved in wedding vows, maybe they weren't as common as she'd grown up thinking. "It wasn't exactly in the contract", Keela corrected his thinking. "Something Gran slipped in during the betrothal ceremony, they had no idea until after." She'd never been told the story of how it had come about, and as she'd gotten older, she figured that probably wasn't a bad thing. She was almost startled by his laughter, while he smiled often, he didn't laugh much she'd come to notice. Taking automatic offense, her eyes narrowed before she checked herself. "Not really, but you might be working with a bit of handicap when it comes to gaining their approval" she grinned wickedly at him. "Mum will give you the benefit of the doubt as long as she doesn't think there's anything too wild going on. Dad, well, I don't honestly know what he'll do." It would be interesting, certainly, to see how Taranis Summerby would react to having his first born tell him she'd fallen for a Slytherin over a year her junior.
His odd expression, in turn earned him a similar one. She had always put a considerable amount of stock in her parents' opinions, the idea that Vincent worked independently of them worried her, and she knew it probably showed. "Don't you care what they think?" she asked him softly. Even if they let him have free reign, it seemed foreign to her to count out their opinion completely. But, then, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. A hufflepuff in a house full of Slytherins had the sound of a really awful muggle horror flick. There it was, the proverbial elephant in the room. They hadn't discussed blood prejudice. Since they were both purebloods, it had never come naturally into the conversation. Still, eventually they'd have to discuss it. She didn't want him harrassing her because some of her friends were half-bloods or muggleborns. She sighed, since he'd touched on it, now might be as good a time as any. "Vin...do you...that is, you don't have anything against non-purebloods do you?" It wasn't necessarily a deal breaker, but she felt decidedly tense waiting for his answer. Given his house and his heritage, it seemed likely there would be a bit of proper breeding ingrained somewhere, but she was hopeful none the less.
She laughed at his estimation of the deatheaters. "Mum was part of Dumbledore's Army actually, the defense club led by Harry Potter", it made her proud, regardless of what he might think of it. "Dad got a really awful detention once because he tried to figure out what she was up to sneaking around and ended up getting caught himself." The tone of his voice rang a bit intense, but it was nothing to the look in his eyes. Her own widened, and she swallowed hard. "Because you have an uncharacteristic desire to be a gentleman?" she tried weakly, her voice wavered slightly. She blushed, and her gaze dropped so suddenly it made her slightly dizzy. "I dunno", she struggled to keep her tone light. "That seems like the sort of knowledge that would be very easy to...take advantage of." Or rather, it would make it very easy for him to take advantage of her. While the thought wasn't at all unpleasant, giving him any more power over her than he already had warred with her sensibilities. "I think you'll just have to figure it out the hard way."

He gave her a playful push on one arm. "You did imply and since you don't seem to object to my kisses at all, in fact lean into them, I rather think you just hadn't voiced it yet. Would Madam like to make a decision or is she still holding out?" Of course, more kissing would be used to make her hurry up her decision if she was slow... Vin was surprised out of that thought however. "Oh really? How very Slytherin of her. What house was she in do you think?" He shrugged, liking the fact she hadn't felt like moving out of his lap keeping this whole conversation quite intimate. "No offense, my only problem with that house is that they are known for getting into other people's affairs, invited or not. I know their are exceptions to every rule, but I've always had problems with them being pushy about it."
Actually it was the only house he had really had problems with, though a few Ravenclaws were snobby. "I kind of expect any father to be hard to prejudge really. I know I would be protective if I had daughters. So I think I'll just keep my mind on his being a hard sell to begin with to make me try harder." She seemed to be worried about his comments about his family and he gave her a surprised look. "Keela, I didn't say I wouldn't listen to them. I said basically it's my life, not theirs. If they objected to you I'd still want you as mine, just means I would have to defend you against them which I'd rather not have to. As long as you don't find mom offensive, I think you'll be fine." He gave her a hug, meant to be comforting; she was too nice a girl for anyone to object to!
Oh boy, that subject always seemed to come up somewhere. And why did it? It wasn't like it was a logical argument in the first place! "Well I kinda agree with my mom and dad on this one so let me just explain my angle here, okay? That would be easier." He waited for a nod or some acknowledgment from her before he continued. "While I don't particularly care what the Death Eaters are about, those freaking weirdos, I do think that pures together have more magic potential in a relationship for magic descendants. Once you mix muggles in then that percentage goes down, even if it's only a little bit. So if I am from a pure blood line, for my kids it's best if I find a pureblood to marry so they have the best possible advantage. Mind you, I was going to go look in other countries cause constantly marrying in the same closed ethnic group is insane, but most Death Eaters are."
Vin shrugged again, some people were just stupid in the first place. "And why would I care beyond that? People are people, some are jerks and some are okay and a very few," he said giving her legs an affectionate squeeze with both hands, "are special to me." He chuckled. "Mom's issues with having a son to carry on the name, well, with the way it sounds grandpa treated her I can understand her need to eradicate his memory with something good. I need to have pure kids for her for the line. Dad has Darius for that. he had to agree to let the oldest have her last name, that was part of their agreement so half of us are Silver-Moons and the others are Silvers. Solves it all."
Listening to her talk about her family and their adventures in school he paid attention; these were people he was going to need lots of insight into if he was going to display himself well. Tricky business, he thought, but somehow he'd manage. Her attempt to bring being a gentleman into it made him chuckle again and a warm smile was on his face even as his eyes twinkled away in amusement. "Seeing how dad teases mom into personal time and how mom makes it plain when she wants to get him in a bedroom I think the examples I have show gentleman like behavior is not needed when you have that type of bond." Another kiss on her neck below her ear and he let his hands move up to her thighs. "But the hard way is the most fun, not to mention natural..."

When he shoved her lightly, she grinned. The gesture reminded Keela slightly of Cern, an odd contrast given their previous activities. She gave him a sardonic look, was she still holding out? It seemed pointless, even a bit silly now. Plus, it might make things go over a bit smoother with her parents if she told them he was her boyfriend before she mentioned kissing him. Keela closed her eyes, as though gathering the nerve to take a nosedive over a very high cliff. When she opened them again, she smiled softly. “All right”, she acquiesced simply. “You win.” Nervous though it made her, she couldn’t deny feeling as though an exceptionally large weight had been suddenly lifted off her chest. That was one stress point at least somewhat sorted. Keela laughed, “Slytherin, just like great-granddad.” Keela had never met her mother’s grandfather, but she knew enough to run down the basics. “Gran was a bit hung up on the whole pureblood thing, not really in a mean way, she just took a lot of pride in pure lineage.” She laughed softly . “Grandmum says she took it awfully hard when both her daughter and granddaughter were sorted into Gryffindor.” She didn’t mention her great uncle. Armand had died in the war, fighting for Voldermort at the Battle of Hogwarts. Keela laughed when he lamented about Gryffindors. “Mom can be a bit pushy”, she agreed, “but I promise she means well.” She shrugged, having given up on trying to keep her clothing properly aligned. “Dad’s the peacemaker, he ran interference between mum and Gran when she was alive, so they didn’t have to spend all their time at society events.” She smiled nostalgically. “Most of the time, when we were younger, mum and dad made plans to be out of the country whenever she was throwing any of her big events, except for Christmas.”
“That’s probably a good idea”, Keela agreed. “I know he was really protective of my aunts when they were young, mum says he had a hard time with them growing up.” She listened to his defense of his statements, then nodded. When he mentioned his mother, she glanced up warily. “You know, you’re doing a really good job of making her sound really terrifying” she pointed out. “She can’t be that crazy.” Keela hesitated, bit her lip, then spoke again. “Can she?” So far, Keela was only really nervous about half of his family. She knew Professor Silver from having him in class, and was fairly certain she could hold a decent conversation with him. She’d only met Darius briefly, but she was fairly certain he wouldn’t be any more forward than he’d been on the train. She’d only seen Char in passing, but she appeared to be very much like Vin, so they’d probably get on all right. Ash and his mum, on the other hand, had her reconsidering the idea of ever going near his home. She’d have to meet Ash eventually of course, probably before Christmas even, but she was slightly comforted by the thought of multiple professors and a hospital wing nearby. “So don’t offend your mum, and watch out for Ash…anything else I should know?”
She heard the word ‘agree’, and her expression sank, but she nodded, listening intently even so. The look on her face turned thoughtful. Put that way, it didn’t sound as bad. Still, if the subject came up when he met her parents, things might get a bit prickly. She shrugged, “I’m pretty much okay whatever gene pool I play in. Dad’s Irish, mum’s half-Italian half…well European, there’s a bit of everything in there.” Much as she hated to admit it, Vincent had a very similar mentality to her brother. He wasn’t prejudiced exactly, but he didn’t want to be the one to end the sterling pedigree either. “Cern has a thing about it too, not that mum and dad care, but he carries the name, and he wants to keep the legacy going.” Remembering that, she thought that maybe it might not be too much of a stretch for her parents to understand where Vincent was coming from. They understood the pressures of needing to meet expectations better than most anyone Keela knew of.
He continued, and Keela exhaled, relieved. He wasn’t a bigot, arrogant maybe, but not a bigot. She could work with that. He squeezed her leg, distracting her from the line of thought briefly. Keela thought might understand too. With Vin’s fulfillment of the obligations set on his mother, they’d both be free of a man who, in Keela’s opinion, should have been given the kiss and left in Azkaban ages prior. A bit embarrassed by the topic, but no less curious, she couldn’t resist questioning him. “So, if say, you and I had kids…” Even hypothetically, it made her blush. “Would they be Silver-Moons or just Moons?” It all made sense in a very complex sort of way. Vin would continue the line for his mum’s family, fulfilling both sets of obligations and freeing her from the remnants of his grandfather’s control. Darius would be the heir for his father’s family, both lines would live on, everyone was happy. Still, it was a terribly amount of pressure to place on someone’s shoulders, and Keela thought she might understand his position a bit better. “It makes more sense now, the way you are, it’s a lot of pressure.” No wonder he wanted to be sure he knew what he was doing, there was a lot riding on his ability to find the right match.
His amused grin earned him one in return, despite her discomfort. Unable to resist being cheeky, she corrected him. “Difference being, they’re your parents and they’re married”, she pointed out. “We just started going out…” she glanced at the fireplace. “Around ten minutes ago.” He kissed her neck, and the warmth tingled pleasantly. “You can’t do that every time you’re trying to make a point”, she scolded him lightly. “It isn’t fair.” It was also bloody distracting, but she didn’t include that thought. She was also conscious of his hands, hyper aware of his closeness. “Only you would consider the hard way the most fun.” Merlin, what had she gotten herself into?

Hearing her give in and admit she wanted to date him, wanted to be his was a great feeling! With a pleased grin he caught up her hand and kissed the palm, right in the center. "I like the sound of that very much, Keela!" His ego grew a bit bigger. But why not? The girl who had first kissed him had given in to him and that was a form of domination even if not what most might think; he was winning what he wanted and that made him pretty content. Hearing that her grandparents were in the Slytherin way made him think his mother was going to have little to object to in this girl in the first place. As she told him about the family he listened, putting in his own comments along the way.
"So you've had everything except a Ravenclaw then it sounds like. Good variety I guess in personalities. I guess both my mother and father's sides have always been in one mold. I think their generation broke with the old on both sides and chose a different path." and "Wel, I think to use we're used to it enough to think it's more entertaining then scary, like I said you have to experience it for yourself to understand what she is like." were comments that fit as well as anything in the conversation. As she reacted to his explanation he watched her careful and felt relieved she didn't find his direction repulsive at least. "Exactly. Mom wouldn't care if my sisters went in another direction, but that wouldn't be the main line so for her sake I kind of want to aim a bit more specific."
His look did say 'it is my mom.'
Her question peaked curiosity in his eyes as she blushed and more then a little bit! "Well actually, when I was a kid I thought both was what I wanted, some of each, kind of start an entirely new branch, but now I don't know." Still holding her hand he traced his finger across her palm as he thought about what to say next. Was it too soon or should he give her a hint of his ideas? Maybe a hint would be in line... "If, as you say, we had kids which would be very awesome from my side at least," he smiled a bit wider, "I think it would be up to us to decide on how their last names should be. Do you object to a boy for each name? If not, then two boys and it's covered." He wasn't going to mention "an heir and a spare" cause that would mean four boys and he doubted this was the time to talk about that.
"Why Keela, you know the hard way means learning about you on a very direct and personal level one on one. You will learn as much about me as I would find out about you, you know."

The warmth in his eyes alleviated some of her own misgivings. His excitement was contagious, and she grinned. She tried to push away her own concerns: the inevitable conversation with Cern, her parents, and while she was piling stress her grandparents too. Everyone knew that Cern had planned to marry a pureblood since puberty, but Keela had always scorned the concept. It would be a surprise to everyone, just as it had been to her, when she'd realized she was falling for him. "Do you?" pulling herself from her revelrie, she worked to make her tone light, teasing. "I couldn't tell." She'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to miss it. There was a glint in his eyes and warmth in his expression that radiated more than just an inflated ego. It helped banish her own concerns some, to have made him so happy. Pausing, suddenly cautious, she bit her lip. "Just...let's not tell anyone until I can get to Cern. I'm afraid of what might happen if he hears it from someone else before I can get to it." She looked hesitant, nervous, expecting him to be irritated with her.
She shrugged, "I think we're all a bit too outgoing to be considered for Ravenclaw. I mean, I love to read, but studying isn't something I could delegate my life around." Keela smiled, "I think the hat briefly considered putting Cern in Slytherin, he got this really sour look on his face like the hat said something he didn't like." She shook her head, "I was almost a Gryffindor, but in the end the hat said I was too cautious." She curled up, laid her head on his chest, and sighed, content. Keela nodded when he spoke about his family. "You have to be there to get it", she surmised. "It makes sense." After a moment, she added: "Taking care of your mum", she raised up slightly to kiss his cheek, "that's very sweet." Between how comfortable she was and the warmth of the fire seeping into her muscles, Keela felt her limbs grow heavy. Careful not to hit him, she stretched, and then snapped back like a rubber band when her shirt began to rise up. "That's it", she muttered. "I am never wearing this shirt again."
Keela's eyes widened, her father had often joked about the 'heir and a spare' concept. If he wanted some for both lines, that meant at least four children...minimum. She blushed at the compliment, but refrained from commenting, urging him with her eyes to continue. He mentioned two, and she grinned, pleased with the opprotunity to surprise him. "According to dad, you need at least two for a line. He calls it an 'heir and a spare'. So...wouldn't you need four?" Giving him a look that was half wary half amused when he mentioned the give and take, she couldn't resist shooting back with. "That's what I'm afraid of."

Her concerns about her brother had Vin nodding; that situation could only get worst really if she didn't get to him first. "Totally understood. Do you want me there, keep him from screaming out loud because of another in hearing or you want to tackle him alone?" He thought about ways to negate the other's influence, but he also knew the more the boy railed against him the more she was driven into his arms. A fine line between too far and not enough. It'd be better if he was able to think of a trick to use, something to drive him onwards. "I think Cern and I need to have a talk. Is there a particular time that works for you or you want to ask him for me?"
Her kiss about his mother was a surprise; it wasn't something he thought people didn't do. "Well duh, she's my mom. She's the reason I'm alive, who wouldn't do whatever it takes for their mom?" The concept was foreign to him; family was the most important building block of all. The idea someone could ignore that and -- well it just didn't process. "Well see, now you're just making me like the shirt more when you tease me with that. if you get rid of it though I'd want it for the memories so maybe I'd better help you with it." Instead of altering it with his wand tho he had a different idea. "Well it's not going to slide off you any more, but there's only so much material to work with. Here." So saying, he removed his own shirt and handed it to her.
"There. It's a little big on me, but that should fit you fine." he was, however, very surprised at her admission about knowing the heir and a spare line. he gave her a hesitant smile and then said fairly seriously "Well...true, but I didn't want to scare you with the thought I was expecting that or anything. You don't get to pick in advance you know, it's only 50/50. And any little girl who looks like you I'd be happy with, but that could quickly get to be a lot of kids you do realize." His eyes admitted he would like that very much, but it was her choice to begin with after all it wasn't his body. Inwardly he grinned to himself that she had brought it up; she certainly couldn't accuse him of planning her family for her now could she?
A glance at her; oh yes, she might have forgotten he came from a large family to begin with; he would have no hesitation about giving her one as well.

Vin nodded his agreement, surprising her. He was being supportive, and Keela found herself simultaneously thrown off guard and comforted. She glanced at the fireplace, and then back into his eyes thoughtfully. She bit her lip, “Well, I don’t see how his making a scene will change anything, except to be embarrassing of course.” Keela could picture it, his outrage at having been kept out of the loop, not to mention the fact that she was dating Vincent Silver-Moon in the first place. “My whole house already thinks we’re dating, having it confirmed shouldn’t cause too much chaos.” The notion that her brother didn’t approve however… ”Maybe you should be there, Cern’s not that irrational, maybe we can talk him down.” Keela blanched gently, “a talk? What sort of talk?” The thought made her nervous. “I’m not sure, part of me thinks he’d be more open if I wasn’t there, but then, he might also be more volatile.” Her brow creased with concern for what the future held. “What do you think?” Keela was beginning to realize how much she valued his opinion, and because the situation directly involved him, it seemed only fair.
Keela smiled warmly, softly, in a way that said she was seeing him in a new light. “You’d be surprised”, she answered him softly. “Some people don’t put much stock in family loyalty.” Like her uncle Armand hadn’t when he’d all but forced her great grandmother’s hand. Keela felt the tingling sensation of magic as her shirt altered itself. On the one hand, it was now perfectly decent at the neckline, on the other, the material had risen significantly to compensate, exposing the majority of her midriff. She flushed crimson, unused to revealing so much outside of a swimming excursion. Her embarrassment at the situation, however, was nothing compared to her reaction when he offered his shirt. Deciding she could only solve one of her comfort dilemmas, she took the offered shirt. “Th-thanks”, she struggled for her bearings, trying not to ogle him. She’d seen him shirtless before of course, on that first day by the lake. That, however, had been before he meant anything to her, before she’d known to pay attention. It was for this reason, and several others, that she glued her eyes decidedly to the floor. Sliding his shirt over her head, she instantly felt swallowed by it. The fabric was still warm from his body heat, and it smelled distractingly of him. The shirt was too big all the way around, falling to her mid-thigh but it was undeniably comfortable. Keela laughed at the surprise on Vincent’s face, pleased to have thrown him off for a change. “I’m the oldest of four”, she informed him, “the next one starts next year. It’s…a fairly familiar concept.” She gave him a wickedly amused look. “Besides, I don’t think I’d mind terribly if it came to that, imagine all that…practice we’d be getting in between.” Her courage failed at the last moment, and she flushed. Shifting the mood, she added. “But, I think we should probably make it to a second date before we start talking kids, don’t you?” She grinned, albeit sardonically, “we’ve got a bit of space to cover between kissing and….all the rest.” She’d officially drained her hereditary store of Gryffindor courage tonight, and she felt the shyness creep back. “Are you responsible for both heirs, your mum’s family and your dad’s?”

Her whole house thought they were already a couple? That was a good thing indeed! "Well now, mine thinks that I'm after you, but isn't sure if I've caught you or anything, I suspect. Oddly, I think it will improve my reputation somewhat. Isn't that wild?" He shook his head, just thinking about it, a slight smile at the foolishness of others there. "They have no idea how serious I am, really, so they kind of have to think that way, I know, but it's going to be awhile before anyone there realizes it."
He heard her sudden nerves about this discussion and chuckled softly. "Don't worry, I'm not going to force anything. But until we talk and he realizes I'm not trying to ruin you or anything like that, he's never going to change his mind." He looked at her, wondering if she understood guys enough to see that? It was a tricky think, girls trying to understand the male mind, but she might understand since she had a brother. "I think it would be better if I spoke to him alone. A kind of man to man thing I think..."
Vin saw her surprised look and enjoyed it, noting how her eyes fell to the floor. "Keela, I don't think you realize it but maybe I'd better say it now. Guys without shirts on are not that bad, really. And heck, you're my girlfriend. It's kind of your right to look you know." He didn't cover himself either, just stayed there watching her face as she tried to only look at his face, amusing him still. "Four kids? You know, I should have thought of that. Of course you would know that." He shook his head at himself, amused yet again.
His eyes grew wider when she mentioned the practice and he lifted both eyebrows as well. "Well well, I never thought I would ever hear you say something like that. You surprise me again, Keela." Running a hand over her hair once, caressingly and then laughed as she spoke about rushing things. "My dear, you were the one who brought up kids for a question, I was helping to answer it for you. If anything it says it's on your mind which should make you think about your own interests really." From there he ran his hand down her back again, liking the look of his shirt on her actually.
"It looks good on you, actually. This doesn't mean you're going to demand more of my clothes for yourself does it?" His eyes laughed at her, but he had noticed that trend with others in other houses. He shook his head in answer, knowing she didn't know what it meant really. "Nope, just mom's side. Our family name is split. The top three are all Silver-Moons, the bottom are all Silvers. That's the reason I only mentioned the Moons and Silver-Moons."

Keela grinned cheekily at him. “Suddenly I feel more like a cornered rabbit than a person.” She laughed as he spoke. “Maybe they think I’m a good influence.” She shrugged, "who knows?" Keela met his eyes, searched them. “I’m still trying to figure that out myself”, she teased, only half-joking. It was all very well and good to casually discuss the hypothetical concept of marriage and such, it was entirely another to consider the prospect of spending the rest of your life with someone so completely different from you. She could easily picture traveling across the country with him, taking incredible pictures as they went. Picturing herself as his wife, raising his children scared the bloody hell out of her. She flinched, glanced up at him, bit her lip, and then tried to steer her thoughts in another direction. No one had mentioned the ‘M’ word yet, not seriously at least. They had plenty of time to figure things out, graduation wasn’t for nearly half a year, and nothing said they had to make anything final by that point anyway.
Keela listened, relieved as he reaffirmed her thoughts. His choice of words amused her a bit. “Ruin me?” she repeated in a questioning tone. It seemed such an old-fashioned notion coming from him. “I don’t think he has much room to talk on the subject.” She was still a bit sore about the whole thing, and probably would be for the foreseeable future. Still, she agreed that Vincent had a point, her brother could be unquestionably stubborn, one of the Gryffindor-like traits he’d inherited from their mother. She gave him a hesitant sort of half-smile. “If you change his mind, I’ll be impressed. He’s a bit biased against Slytherins to begin with, and your reputation does precede you a bit, love.” She nodded, relieved rather than offended at being excluded from this particular meeting. “No dueling, no hexing, and if either of you comes out of it with a black eye the other one is going to get it.” She tried to look menacing. “I’m serious, Vin, he was…a bit angry when he and I discussed it last week.” She’d managed to talk him down some, but that was before everything became official. She had assured him, somewhat deceptively, that he had nothing to worry about in regards to their relationship turning serious. So much for that.
She was embarrassed, both by her reaction and even further by the fact that he’d noticed. She raised her head so that she could meet his eyes, tried to focus solely on them. The amusement that radiated in his gaze both annoyed and disquieted her. What he said was true enough, and it wasn’t as if she’d never seen a guy shirtless before, most of the guys on the quidditch team practiced shirtless. She forced her body to relax, and that was the difference, seeing them shirtless had barely garnered a second glance, seeing him shirtless made her face heat up and her heart take to double time, definitely not the same thing. Calling her his girlfriend earned him a genuine smile. She liked the sound of that. “Yeah, mum and dad went really traditional up to a point”, she acknowledged. “Two boys, two girls, almost like they planned it that way.” She smiled, pleased. “I’m full of surprises” she assured him. “I’m just getting warmed up.” Actually, she had finally cooled down, and she could feel logic returning to its rightful place in her mind. Regardless, his touch felt nice, and she leaned into it almost unconsciously. She opened her mouth to retort, but closed it again a moment later. He had a point, which she was loathe to acknowledge. “I was just curious about the naming and such, the other side of it is just…details.” Decidedly fuzzy details, and she knew that sex was much more than that, but she couldn’t resist baiting him. He was touching her again, she really had to figure a way to develop an immunity to the effect he had on her. It wasn’t helping her train of thought.
She smiled, but shook her head. “Slytherin green isn’t really my color”, she reminded him teasingly. “Besides, I might not be allowed in my dorm.” She knew some of her friends saw ‘borrowing’ their boyfriend’s clothes as a rite of passage of sorts. For herself, borrowing a jacket was one thing, prancing around in someone else’s clothes seemed a bit intimate for her tastes. “Makes sense”, she acknowledged. Sort of… “Besides, if I took your clothes, what would you wear?”

Vincent ran his free hand up her arm as she spoke and nodded, knowing she wasn't fully trusting everything yet. How many times he would have to tell her he didn't know, but he'd keep at it. "I say you're a good influence. Only time will tell how much though. Same goes for you, since I assume if you are the good one I'm being cast as the bad guy?" The current subject certainly seemed to difficult to her and he resolved to let it drop for the time being, but he did make note about her comment about the names. Interesting her mind was already thinking in that direction; how far had he already gotten inside her defenses?
"Well why don't we do this then. Tell him what you want to about us maybe tonight? And then tell him if he wants to talk or threaten me, I will be waiting for him in the Courtyard tomorrow at lunch, no wands, just words. How about that?" He'd have his on him in self defense of course, but kept away out of sight. This was a discussion that needed to happen indeed and it was way past time for it. Hopefully Cern could be reasonable about things. Her blush actually increased his smile, encouraged him to keep it up. "See? Not so hard, Keela. Next date will go much easier, I promise."
At least her parents picked the right kids.
"And you have another about to start here? Mom just had another baby recently and we have another after Darius who hasn't gotten here yet. Man, lots of kids..." Her logic about avoiding the rest of the kids subject made him shake his head ruefully; once brought up it wasn't like the subject was going to go back into the magic chest of ignorance. "Well I'll do my best not to bring it up again, but I don't know that my mind won't keep thinking about it." There, still pretty damn honest if uncomfortable. Her hair was soft and he pondered for a moment before he asked. "Do you do all those brush strokes each night before bed like my sisters do? Sometimes it seems like that gets ridiculous..."
Snorting, he closed his eyes a moment before he answered that. "Keela, my gosh, do you think just because I'm at Hogwarts all my clothes are in house colors?" He motioned at the white t-shirt she was currently wearing. "Besides, if you use one of those back home don't you think your aunts would be secretly pleased? I bet they get tired of hearing people put their house down..." And with that she shut the book on the subject of names for awhile which he didn't mind all that much really. "Well I wouldn't let you have all my clothes! But I might be persuaded to let you have a couple if I get something in return. Even a shirt smelling of you would be nice though I won't be wearing it I suspect..."
Yeah no, best to put a stop to that right off the bat. He might consider wearing an opposite team's shirt when his wasn't playing against her, but that was going to be the limit of that.

She laughed, really laughed, and the sound bubbled up and surprised her. “I don’t think anyone’s being cast as anything”, she assured him. She felt the tingling sensation at his touch, but she also felt herself becoming more accustomed to it. This time, she didn’t react. She yawned again, stretching languidly before leaning back into his chest once more. A warm sense of contentment permeated her muscles, easing away the stress of the day and replacing it with a relatively new feeling. She was comfortable, she realized, really comfortable with him. Still, she couldn’t resist poking fun. “You can’t exactly blame them. Snake versus badger, isn’t hard to tell who the predator is there.” She was smiling though she doubted he could see her face. “I mean, our house color is yellow for Merlin’s sake…” It had always sort of bugged her, the way Hufflepuff’s were perceived by the rest of the school. She considered herself brave, smart, maybe even cunning on occasion. If her parents had taught her one thing it was that stereotypes were dangerous, and there was very rarely pure black and white when it came to people.
Keela listened, nodded assent, but she felt the need to amend his request slightly. “I think I’ll skip the threaten part. He might see it as me giving permission.” She shook her head gently, eyes closed, hoping things would go better than she expected. She sat up and turned to face him, wanting to see his eyes. “Just, please try to remember that whatever he does or says, he means well. This is a rough time of year for him too.” Gran had passed just after Christmas several years before. Keela often wondered if that might have contributed to their issues with the winter season. She took both of his hands in hers, holding on, but not too tightly. “It’s important to me that he’s…okay with this.” Mostly because she didn’t dare hope for more than that. She loved her brother, but she couldn’t go on pretending she didn’t care for Vincent for her brother’s sake. It was getting a bit ridiculous trying to convince everyone including herself that the feelings weren’t there. She grinned, “I’m not sure, I think this turned out pretty well considering.” Considering she’d come in seeing red and her vision was starting to turn gold around the edges, a mix of firelight and sleepy contentment.
Keela relaxed as the topic shifted to families. This she could exult in, really enjoy. “Tell me about it. Mum and dad wanted four. I think they’re done though, they want to travel some more just the two of them once the four of us are all in school...or out of the house.” She gave him a conspiratorial sort of smile. “Sometimes I think they’re just counting the days until they can sail off to some far off remote island and be alone indefinitely.” She shook her head ruefully, her parents really were nauseating sometimes. “Does it ever make you crazy? Having so many other kids around all the time?” Keela didn’t always relish being the oldest, but neither could she imagine being a middle child with siblings on both sides. She caught the sardonic edge to his voice as he acquiesced to her statement. “I’m not saying we’ll never talk about it again, Vin. I’m just saying I want to enjoy the moment before my brain goes off in another direction too far.” She also wanted to get accustomed to the idea of being his girlfriend before she tried to process anything else. Keela grinned, “Of course not, I brush it, put it up in a ponytail or something so it won’t get all tangled while I sleep, and let it be.” She tilted her head slightly. “Mum always said she thought that much brushing might tear your hair out more than anything.”
Keela blushed, but wouldn’t be daunted. “Well, Slytherins are notorious for house pride”, she pointed out. Her expression turned thoughtful. “I didn’t think of that”, she admitted. “I guess they might. They do tend to get into it with mum over old house rivalries from time to time.” She grinned at the memory. “It’s never serious, but dad did have to break up an argument about who really should have won the house cup one year.” Keela laughed softly, “mum might have a stroke if I came home wearing Slytherin colors though…dad would probably think it was funny.” Provided he didn’t care that those clothes belonged to a boy. She blushed, glanced up at his broad shoulders and grinned, trying to picture him in one of her tank-tops. The image was decidedly humorous. In a moment of inspiration, she tugged her bag into her lap where it had lain forgotten up to now. “How about a scarf?” She tugged it out of her bag. “I had it on earlier during free period while I was out by the lake." It was one of several she had in house colors. Near the fringe was her mother’s handy work, a small KRS surrounded by her mum’s attempt at embroidering the Celtic knots her father often made in his spare time.

Feeling her relax into him made him feel even more confident. Relaxation meant trust and trust meant success in his eyes, at least so far in the game! "Predator? Now hold on, snakes don't go after badgers unless they are HUGE snakes! And badgers are known for fighting; they might be a predator, but I don't think the snake would always be the main aggressor in that particular example." 'Besides,' he thought with glee, 'I don't have a forked tongue, I just know how to use my mind to get the words I need...' As she thought about his offer and idea, she sat up enough to look at him and he was reminded how relaxed she really was that she felt no need to move out of his personal space but stay connected to it.
"I'll go easy, though if he swings at me I will defend myself, but I mean it. No wands, just words on my part." Her concern did her credit, but he had siblings too. "Trust me, if I thought Ash was in trouble, I'd help her out in a heartbeat and I'd protect any of mine the same. I understand siblings; I'm not trying to break you all apart." Again she made him smile with her comment about how well this was going. Speaking of which, they were now an hour in and there had been no attempt to send him away nor head back to the dorm. Dare he hope she had made a decision there unconsciously as well? "island huh? I don't think my mom has decided yet, jeeze, Char is nearly legal and she just had another! Having kids around hasn't sowed either of my parents down at all..." Secretly he suspect his mother was enjoying having little ones around period.
Did he? Sometimes he wanted safe space for himself, but that was in his room really. "Well I can always go hide out in my room. Ash hasn't found my secret spot yet so far. But for me it's always been big numbers. You have to realize I have lots of relatives and they are always coming over. We field two teams against each other in the summers for Quidditch just with those under age. Big families just means more people around to protect you and play with in my mind." The idea of her making her hair simple pleased him because it meant she was probably not one of those long debaters over outfits and getting ready. And that was nothing but a good sign! "Good for you. All that extra work takes up sleeping time."
'Or other stuff...'
"ha, well not all Slytherin shirts are green. I got a couple of grey and white ones I can loan you if you want to surprise people at home. Might take it awhile to sink in you know?" He chuckled. Actually if her father thought Vin was doing it so Keela could have ammunition at home he might think it funny even if they were from her boyfriend; that might help if the man had a good sense of humor. "Does your father have a good sense of humor? What's he like, Keela? I don't think you've ever talked a lot in detail about him to me." She offered him a scarf and he blinked twice, caught off guard. "Tell you what, wear it for a bit so I can see you in it and it's a deal. Scarf's aren't hard to have and when we're not playing you I can wear it in support as well."
