He chuckled and waved his hand around at the garden "I think vegetables and potatoes and such. We put flowers in window boxes mostly. Never seen such a large space for only flowers..." Wow, so they really all traded off working on it. He nearly shook his head in surprise at how different their homes were. He worked to put food on the table by growing foods and dyes and she spent free time making sure the flowers grew all right. "I'll ah, make sure the window boxes on the manor house are extra big for you" he said, half serious, half teasingly. The idea of her flinging herself off the bench as she swung out made him laugh involuntarily, grinning at the logic. "Fountain is a good distance too, I have to admit..." Her explanation made sense and he nodded as she spoke, still running a finger over the coin. "Well you did an amazing job, Ree-love, I had not expected this at all." He pulled her closer with one arm to let her warm up and shift the coin to the hand around her as he said I have something for you too and this seems like a very good time to show and explain it. He pulled out a double wrapped package in two sections, connected together apparently and he laid it in her lap. "Let me explain it first, then you can unwrap it in two parts, this end first," he said pointing to the larger part. "This gift is in four parts or from four groups I should say. Ireland, my family, myself, and Hogwarts," he counted off on his fingers as he named them, knowing she could not see what was coming in any way. He had been thinking a lot about this entire situation recently and while the gift had been finished before hand, the thoughts in his head were far deeper then before. "It's not nearly as handy a thing as your coin is, but I hope it gives you some peace of mind about this whole business."As he motioned to her to unwrap the first part he kept talking. "Go ahead. When you sent me the letter with that ribbon of yours it reminded me of something we have in our family which is kind of a tradition, although an odd one." A necklace (although with an orange ribbon in it) was revealed with the clip where a decoration would go was still wrapped up. "So let me explain this part first. I took some silver thread I have and made the necklace part, carefully I might add and mom transfigured it for me to silver. It's a little stiffer then your normal necklace, but I did make it so maybe it will be more special for that."He traced the orange ribbon with his finger as he kept talking. "Now, Aimid found the clip here and the tie bar from a box of some of dad's old stuff he left behind. Boann did the wrapping, so this part is entirely our whole family, though the idea was mine. And by the way, you don't have to keep it just this ribbon. You can change them out to match other outfits so it can go with everything." He was particularly proud of that part, but the ribbon did make him smile. It wasn't just a ribbon anymore, it was more a reminded of secrets and their way of communicating without others reading it.

Rosalie smiled, but the way he said it made her wonder if he didn't think her a bit frivilous. "I have some in a window box in my bedroom too", she pointed out. She shrugged, "the garden was already here when mum and dad bought the house, or so they say. Mum just sort of made it her own I think." She grinned, "thank you, but I might like to try my hand at growing other things too." She pictured a different sort of garden, ripe with potatoes, corn, and other vegetables, the thought intrigued her. "I can't imagine its very different is it? Lots of weed pulling, watering and what not." Rose realized she probably sounded a bit ditzy, but it couldn't be helped. "Anyways, you never know, I might have a knack for it." She dearly hoped so at least, though she worried the oposite might be true.
Rosalie laughed, a sudden, surprised sort of sound. "That's the same thing dad said, he said I'd done a good job of flying if ever anyone had." Rose gave an amused giggle at the memory. "Mum thought we'd both lost our minds." She beamed at him, both sensing and seeing the sincerity in his eyes. That was what she'd hoped for, to get him something thoughtful, but also to show that she could be practical. When he mentioned having something for her as well she was a bit surprised at first, but excitement quickly took over as she attempted some guise of maturity. She resisted the urge to bounce up and down, thinking he might find that rather odd. She eyed the package, noticing the unique wrapping, and looked up at him expectantly. She was almost anxious to hear his explanation.
Rather than clear anything up, his explanation only confused her further. She waited for the pieces to fall together as she listened, deciding to wait until he was finished to ask questions. Four parts? Her mind struggled with the concept, wondering what they could be. Peace of mind? What could he be offering her that would give her peace of mind. She felt, and therefore probably looked, genuinely baffled. She unwrapped the first part even as he explained what it was and where it had come from. While she was relieved to know it was made by hand, the idea that it was partly crafted from things of his father's struck her a bit oddly. From what she'd gathered, Taranis had a very low opinion of his father, and Rose was surprised they'd kept anything of his. She recognized the ribbon immediately, and smiled.
"It's beautiful Taran, thank you!" The fact that the gift had three more parts unnerved her somewhat. If he and his family had put this much into just the first part, she wondered what the other three could possibly be. She wondered if he'd thought of the interchangable ribbons himself or if one of the girls had suggested it. "Clever", she said softly. "A universal accessory." She looked down at the necklace again, and ran her fingers over the chain. "Help me put it on?" she asked finally. At the moment, Rosalie didn't care that orange and red didn't match very well, or that it was probably below freezing by this point. All that mattered was making sure Taranis knew how much she appreciated his thoughtfulness, and really, she appreciated it more than he probably knew.

He smiled. "Now that I can manage. I have a lot of experience in that kind of growing, will be glad to help out there. Experience will always show you when the fruits are ripe and what plants look right and wrong, I suppose a lot like the flowers do." He was also pleased to hear he and her father thought alike in somethings; that boded well for the relationship indeed. As she listened, he could see she was confused, not quite seeing what was coming and that was what he would have expected, but what was coming should help more. "Ha! I thought you would like that part. Soon as I saw your ribbon I had that thought and it's good to hear you like the idea. Boann really wanted to do the wrapping with all the bows on it, but she doesn't trust her own hand with crafts much yet. But! I have to show you the other part first, my dear Rosalie! Then I'll be glad to help you with it."Before he went further he took her free hand in his and said, very seriously "I know things are still iffy and you probably have been wondering how well this was going to work, maybe even how I was thinking about things. I told you that if anyone else had come up with this situation, once I realized the potential to save my family it was a given I had to be on board. Mind you, I doubt I would have been really happy with the person cause there are some really scary people in pure blood society I'm finding, but I really didn't have a choice in saving my family from the poorhouse." He had dropped his head as he spoke, a mix of shame and contemplating where they had been headed with everything. It had not been a pretty situation in any way to be real about it. "Well, the loan's been approved, mom is supposed to get the money first of the year. We've already talked about ideas and what to start with and do so it's already worked for us on our end, which is why i need you to hear what I'm going to say to you." He swallowed once, and then lifted his eyes to hers and slipped one hand up to her cheek, making sure (gently) she didn't look away before he could finish. "I'm completely committed to this, Rosalie. I can't imagine a better person to spend my life with and no matter what you decide in a year from now, I want you to know I've been doing a lot of thinking about this. I know neither of us can say it's love cause of hormones and all that, but most teenagers can't say that even with their own ability to choose."He smiled sweetly as he looked at her soft face, ran his hand slightly across her skin in a caress of pure enjoyment. "But you're probably the best friend I've ever had, you've saved my family which I can't even tell you how much that means to me, and I'm really starting to feel some things for you I can't really explain yet even to myself." Looking down, he put her hands on the last part and let her open it, revealing that attached to the necklace was a key which had been polished, yet a close look showed it was a much older style of craftsmanship. "So, we're poor, but we have some traditions that each generation has followed for more then twelve generations and one of those traditions is this key. My great so many times grandmother had it made."Taranis ran a finger around the shape of the heart key, knowing it's secrets which she had yet to discover. It was the second key, actually, the first having been destroyed in a wizarding battle eight generations ago, but the replacement was still going strong. "Don't panic, it's no big relic and no one will be devistated if it gets destroyed cause it's the meaning which is important and why I have it here now. Traditionally it's given to the eldest son's wife in each generation and she passes it on to her oldest son's wife as well. Mom told me about it a few years ago and it seems quite perfect for you. But I want you to know, if the worst case scenario happens and we break the contract" he said with emphasis to show how much he really had changed his mind about this scenario, "even if I knew that in advance I'd still give this to you. So no argument about this, hear me?" Placing the key itself in her hand, the necklace coiled in her palm, he pulled out his wand and tapped the heart in the middle and then placed his hand on it, palm open. There was a click, and the cover opened like a locket and inside was a picture of Rosalie casting a disarming spell, a moving wizarding picture in miniature. It was recognizable to her as it was the Room pf Requirement, though Taranis did not know what it meant at all. "This is from Hogwarts. I told you about finding the Requirement room the other day, weird place, and I was leaving it I was thinking of you and this table appeared and this picture was there already trimmed to fit." He gave her a smile before looking back down at it. Taking a finger he ran it around the edge of the heart shape like a caress before speaking. "I have my suspicions, but I still don't want to hear what it means. Suffice it to say your secrets are safe with me, Rosalie DiAngelo, locked away in my heart."Taranis closed the heart softly with a click and said "Anyone can open the heart, but the key has a bonding magic to it and can only be shared by two people, right now me and my mother. So you can't do this yet, but let me show you a secret." Picking it up in his hands, he held it in one hand in front of her and put his other hand on it, wand in his lap and willed it to work. There was a second click which sounded different and when he pulled away his hand the heart and the key's rod were separate. "All I did was will it to open and because I'm one of the pair, it works for me. Now watch this." Placing it on his hand he took the rod up and touched the end of it to the center of the heart and turned it to the right like it was a real key though there was not a hole. He took his hand out of the way and the heart unfolded to the right and down, then again, to the left, then up to the right creating four hearts. There were two hearts without something in them, the other two filled and he pointed these out with his finger. "This top one is a four leaf clover collected by one of my ancestors. It's been sealed with glass and magically preserved for luck and then permantly stuck in place. The story is there is a bit of ground behind it from the very center heart of Ireland." He grinned up at her suddenly adding "We could both use some luck before this is all out, right? Seemed appropriate." Pointing to the other there was a family picture of Taranis' family taken on the day before Rosalie's family had come to visit, his mother sitting at the kitchen table with Boan in her lap, Aimid at one elbow and Taranis at the other, all smiling at her. They didn't wave madly as some pictures did though Taranis blew her a kiss and little Boann held up a heart on a card secretly as if no one else could see. Taranis reached for the key again and tapped the picture with soft affection and it swung open. Behind it was a small tight ring made out of blond hair. Pointing to it he said softly "So, this ring is made out of my hair from when mom cut my hair before I came here for today. I wove it myself." Closing the picture he tapped the heart again and the whole thing folded back up. As he touched the key shape back to where it had been attached to the heart and it reattached he spoke. "Now, if you wear this, my dear Ree-love, though you have nothing on your hand, you will still have my ring on you" as he put the key in her hand "and you will know I'm with you too." He grinned as he shrugged and added "You can change the pictures to whatever you want, I just thought it might help you ease your mind over how I feel about all this. So, will you accept it?" It wouldn't work for her yet, but he wanted to hear her say it before he went any farther.

Rosalie nodded, grateful. "I'd appreciate it, I'd hate for everything to turn black and wilt the first time I tried to grow a potato", her eyes widened, somewhat nervously. "That doesn't happen, does it?" Oh right, the other part, she'd forgotten in her elation over the first one. "She should have given it a try, I'm sure I would have loved it either way." As he spoke, she had to refrain from nodding, he was right, and they both knew it. Everything had been so uncertain over the last several weeks. They were both dealing with a lot of new emotions and stresses that hadn't been there before, and some that had only gotten worse. Sometimes it seemed that for every problem the arrangement fixed, it also created a new one. The look she gave him was full of warmth, but devoid of sympathy, he didn't want it, didn't need it, and she knew enough to respect that. She leaned down, so that she could get up under his downturned face and look into his eyes.
"Taranis", she said softly, and waited until he was paying attention. "You are not responsible for the irresponsible decisions of your father, or your ancestors. You are responsible for your decisions, and you've made some very hard ones lately." She considered herself one of those decisions, and it was a hard pill to swallow. Rose was elated, the loan had gone through, everything was going to be okay for his family. She knew a moment's hesitation, now that they had the money, would he doubt his decision to follow this through? When he looked up she pulled back slightly to avoid bumping noses. Her breath caught, she rarely saw Taranis this serious, even with the impending decisions they both had to make. Her eyes were riveted to his as she listened to his words. Her lips quirked at the mention of hormones, bloody hell, he didn't know the half of it.
She knew how he felt, a little too well actually. While she wasn't ready to call the myraid of new things she felt anything other than confusion, she had a full understanding of the place he was coming from. She opened this part more hesitantly, and she saw the key immediately. It looked simple enough, she'd seen lockets before, though she'd never owned one. She knew better than to say anything, choosing instead to let him continue speaking. The key looked almost antique, like it might have been very old. Her family had things like this to, but they were...family heirlooms. Her suspicions were confirmed when he mentioned his grandmother, and the idea that this was the second key didn't afford her any relief at all. Her eyes snapped up to his, it was the first time he'd mentioned breaking the contract as the worst case scenerio. She searched his eyes, looking for some hint as to what had changed, what had happened. She opened her mouth to protest, loudly, only to shut it again. "But Taranis I.." No arguments...right...she wasn't very good with that concept. It was a tradition, a Long held tradition, and he was giving it to her.
Rose felt like she might cry, embarrassingly girly, happy tears. She bit her tongue hard, no crying tonight, whatever the reason, but she couldn't withold a soft, traitorous sniffle. "Taranis...I...are you sure?" If he wasn't, she'd hand it back right now, no hard feelings, and they'd go on with their night. If he wasn't, she'd understand. But no, he was, and she clutched the key for a moment as though it was the most precious thing she'd ever owned, before relenquishing it to him again. Rosalie stared at the locket after it opened, at the picture it contained. She wondered what Taranis must be thinking, but for her, she knew. This picture was perfect, not because it represented her time with the DA but because it represented something to Rose, her first patronus charm. The dolphin had flown through the air, dodging weaving as though it were swimming. Rose had been recalling every happy moment she could contain in this picture, and here it was, hers forever.
One day, she'd explain to Taranis what this meant. One day a long time from now when the conflict had ended and it was safe to tell him. She watched as the locket transitioned into four distinct hearts, almost like a clover. Ironic, because the first section held just that. Rose was afraid her voice would betray her if she spoke, but she decided to risk it. "We c-could", she managed. It was the best she could do under the circumstances. Rosalie listened, he'd put so much thought into this. When he'd finished, the silence was almost palpable in her ears. She couldn't help thinking this was probably closer to a real proposal than the one they'd have to do publicly later on. Suddenly everything they'd been talking about in the hypothetical seemed very concrete now. She smiled then, took a deep breath, "It's beautiful Taranis, and yes, I would be honored to wear it."[/quote]

As he spoke to her he knew he had a bit of nerves as he was committing himself to something very big, very important. Life changing. But he had been thinking it through carefully. Not even her more-then-welcome comments about not being responsible for his ancestors (though he loved hearing it and thanked her with his eyes) was going to distract him from this idea in his mind that he had to say. In a funny way, the necklace and key were tangible, but not really what he was giving her. He was trying to give her peace of mind, confidence, heart, and himself all at once. And he knew she caught his meaning almost immediately when he changed the phrase. Her startled eyes, her almost interruption. He tried to say with his own eyes how much he meant it, but his words had already covered it just as well. She even asked him if he was sure, unable to believe what he was saying for a moment despite his careful planning this out. But she got her answer easily and he saw her eyes as he said it. This was going to work, he could see the hesitation easing out of her, some of her fears that must have been at work being relaxed, possibly even let go of. He was no fool to think this simple thing solved everything, of course, but it meant something far deeper then he had ever done before, it was as good as putting a ring on her finger for real, telling her in his own private way how much he wanted this and would stand by her in all things. While his heart was certainly there, it was his mind as well that he offered her. When she stuttered over the luck comment he smiled and put a hand to her cheek briefly before telling her the last of it. When he finished, he thought he had done just about everything he had wanted to do here except one. And then she answered him and her words were solid and sure. Relief filled him even though he had been sure she would say it. "Well then, love, there's only one thing left to do here." Taking the hand that held the key, he showed her how to reposition her hand so the key was between both their hands, their fingers overlapping each other. Their arms snugged between them as they clasped hands he smiled with real warmth in his eyes as he said to his fiancé (now more then ever in his mind in truth) saying "And this is why it can only be passed between family because it has to be sealed with a kiss."And the few inches between them were no real barrier at all. He kissed her with certainty, with a growing feeling of knowing this was right, that he was doing the best thing, and that here was someone he would never regret having at his side, or being at hers either way. Maybe his kiss was touched by more then he could express now or was coming to accept, but it was long and glorious and if he had cared to pay attention at all (he didn't) he would have felt the warmth from the key which was more then just from them, but something from both of them as it should be. When he released her from that kiss he did not pull back more then an inch. "I accept you, Rosalie DiAngelo into my heart and family entirely and without reservation. I hope you will find me always open to you, even though sometimes I might get angry" they both knew why that might be "or even frustrated, I still trust you as if my own blood ran in your veins."It wasn't a set speech, or even required, but it felt one hundred ways of right. Releasing her hand he left the key in it and undid the clasp on the necklace and stood up. Walking behind her he lowered it in front of her (it feeling almost like some ceremony somewhere) where she could see it, waiting for her to pull her hair back out of the way. Then he lowered it to her neck and clasped it on the back with sure fingers, having actually had enough practice with his sisters to be good at a ladies' things. Done, he came back around the front of her and sat down, sending the precious coin down the back of his knuckles like a professional street trickster end over end. "Thank you so much for this gift, Ree-love, I love it and the feeling of relief it will give me at night knowing those I care for are okay. Now the key is working only for us, my mom can't make it work for her anymore; quite a nice symbolic bond I think. And it makes me wish I had the ring here for you already, but it's still being made."His eyes twinkled at her, knowing she would be intensely curious about the ring. "Probably ought to head back inside though before your parents suspect us of something else entirely as teenagers often think themselves." He stood and gave her his arm, still holding the coin which he slipped into his pocket of his pants, carefully. At least he would never mistakenly spend that one!

At his words, Rosallie looked up into his eyes. His entire presentation had left her thoroughly off-balance, and she wasn't quite certain what he referred to. She obliged his instructions willingly, if a bit clumsily. She met his gaze with a confidence that for maybe the first time she actually felt. She focused on his eyes, warm, clear, and confident, and was reassured instantly. She understood, and a warmth unlike anything she had experienced coursed through her veins as though it had replaced her very blood. There was a certainty in this kiss that had been lacking in the others. It not only assuaged Rosalie's fading doubts, but also reaffirmed her own sense of confidence in him, in herself, and in the choice they'd made together. Rose noticed that there was also a decidedly warm glow emminating from the key itself, but only distractedly. The rest of her focus was entirely absorbed in this moment, this breath of time that seemed to stretch an eternity, or maybe that was only wishful thinking.
When he pulled away, she expected that to be the end of it, or rather the beginning. One look at his expression told her he wasn't finished yet. His words stole her breath, and the look in his eyes made her heart race unpredictably, fluttering and skipping as though she'd just come up for breath from being under water a long time. She felt certain of two very important facts: First, that they were now as close to being family as two reasonably non-related people could be, and would always be, married or not; Second, she loved him, was probably well on her way to being in love with him, but didn't feel that needed stating at this particular moment. It was better to allow one earth shattering commitment per sitting she felt. She felt his presence behind her like a tangible weight in the air, she wondered if it was part of the magic of the key, or simply a result of all the time they'd spent together. She felt his fingers brush over her skin, and found herself surprised by how adept he was with jewelry. The fact that he'd grown up surrounded by women occured rather beleatedly.
When he returned to his place in front of her, she felt the need to make a few promises of her own. "I promise to be worthy of your trust, to be your friend, to protect you, your sisters, and your mother, as though they were my own." After all, if everything went according to plan, they would be. "I promise to be there to hold your hand when you need me too, and to kick your arse when your mother can't be around to do it." Her lips quirked, and it was with glittering eyes that she next spoke. "And to kiss you whenever I can think of a good reason to, or maybe just for no reason at all." She took a deep breath, "I trust you, with my life and everything it entails. We'll be in this together, a team, always. I promise you that." Rosalie would have laughed had the moment not been so serious, at how closely their declarations resembled wedding vows.
The official statements, should they get around to saying them in a couple of years, would be more refined, infinitely more proper, but these were more important, these were real, these were theirs, and it was these words Rosalie would remember in those moments when things might not be going as perfectly as they were now. She was still lost in thought when something Taranis said caught her attention. "Made?" she asked softly, "if I asked you what you meant by that, would you tell me?" She sighed, hating to let the moment pass, but knowing he was right. She nodded, "lets go, mum has probably been holding dad back from checking up on us for ages." When they arrived back in the house, it was obvious that both parents were trying to appear nonchalant. Rose, however, didn't miss the relieved look on her father's face when he took in his daughter's relitively unaltered state of dress. She hid a smile, "I'm going to get ready for bed", she announced before turning to Taranis. "I need to chase Concerto down, would you like to help me feed him?"

Enjoying the moment, Taranis noted her blushed cheeks and sudden quiet. It was a very personal moment he had noticed and it touched him that she saw it the same, especially after her look at him when he spoke those words from his heart. Hearing her response touched him as well, though he did chuckle when she threatened to kick his ass. "Thanks, I need someone whose not afraid to pin my ears back when I get too full of myself." She could be that one fairly easily he thought. When she asked him about his made comment he quickly raised his hands innocently and said "Sorry, I can't tell you it's another tradition in my family."He got closer and whispered in her ear "But the one who is making it makes it just for you. I got to tell him what I wanted, and it's going to be pretty cool..." Walking back to the house with her at his side felt good and he noted her parents where near the windows as they came back in sight. He smiled and nodded to her father seriously as he entered, trying to show everything was okay, nothing had happened like that. Not that they could avoid seeing what was around her neck really. And he thought he had seen their eyes go to her throat. Oh yeah, that wasn't a give away at all that things were more serious then they had realized. Her comment about chasing down the cat made him smile; way to change the subject before it can get started. "All right, sounds like chasing him down will be the hardest part. Doesn't he come running when you call him for food?" That he wasn't too surprised at, but he always had the impression that presenting food got people easily. Well, okay not people, pets. "What do you need me to do? And does he get fed somewhere in particular? Or do we fix up his food first?"

Rosalie’s lips quirked, “I thought you might”, she shot back, “just a hunch”, she winked. Rose sighed, she’d had a very strong feeling he was going to say something like that. “You have a lot of those”, she observed. She said this with an air of someone who is pouting without really expecting to get their way. She was happy to see him give in a little, however, when he whispered in her ear. So the person making the ring was a he, which eliminated Taranis’ immediate family, and Taranis had decided the design himself. Rose’s curiosity was peaked, but she found that oddly she didn’t want to ruin the surprise, so she let it go. She felt more comfortable with Taran on the trip back. She was glad to have some of their minor issues resolved.
When they returned to the house, Rosalie felt her parents eying her newly acquired jewelry quizzically. She gave them a look that said ‘later’, before bouncing (yes bouncing) up the stairs to change and find Concerto. It turned out to be not terribly difficult as he was once again laying on her pillow sound asleep. She smiled before going to her dresser to puzzle out what to wear. She had several choices, but she knew better than to go for anything short, semi-transparent, or lace, which eliminated a good bit. When she returned a few moments later, kitten in tow, she was wearing the new pajamas her mum had bought her last…oh…that had probably been intentional.
She padded down the stairs barefoot. When she reached the bottom, she motioned to Taranis. “He’s sleepy, so he shouldn’t be too dangerous. Will you hold him while I get his bottle ready?” When he acquiesced, she passed the cat to him gratefully, and went to the kitchen. She took the bottle from its place on a low shelf, and took the special milk her mum had bought from the pet store as well. Once she’d combined the two, she returned to the sitting room. She went to her mum and offered it. Aryssa gave Taranis an oddly sympathetic look, but obligingly warmed the bottle. She returned to the foot of the stairs, and motioned to Taranis to follow. “We always feed him in the attic”, she explained. “The first time was an accident really, but after that it just made sense.” She took Concerto and cradled him gently as they made their way up the stairs. Once they’d arrived in the attic, she settled into the couch on the far side of the room, with the kitten cradled in the crook of her arm. She motioned to the bottle. “It took us forever to get him to use it, I don’t think he understood what it was.” She giggled at the look of wonder on Concerto’s face, he had finally woken up fully, just in time. “Would you like to try?” To be fair, she wasn’t absolutely certain Concerto would react badly, but it was a possibility. “You just hold him like this and put the bottle to his lips, he’ll do the rest.”

She did attempt to poke him about secrets and he held one hand up in defense of the whole thing. "It's okay, we're almost done with the ones involving wedding type stuff. That's your domain. Just be glad I'm the guy in this case, I'm sure my sisters will have a lot more traditions to follow, I only have small part in this." And it was true; guys had to deal with rings and that was about it. The Best man and Maid of Honor would deal with most of that stuff and the bride all the rest. And mostly the guys stayed out of the way entirely which he had no problem with. "You're the one who will have to see to all the arrangements, I just have to get out of your way according to what I've been told..."Getting inside she went up to get changed...again. What was the deal with clothes? At school everyone was in their school uniforms. Very little changing went on, except with a few girls which was a minor amount really. Here he was, having changed clothes to fancy robes and then back to his first set, but she changed again into another set when they returned and now again for bed? Mind you, her earlier dress had gotten soaked so it wasn't unreasonable, but he was starting to wonder. For Taranis, pjs were bottoms and that was it, mostly only for an emergency and no one saw them. He had always kept his pants lying beside the bed to slip into if something happened and he had to get a move on suddenly. Then again, he was poor. So maybe that was it. As she went upstairs he excused himself for the hallway bathroom and glanced in the mirror before he washed his hands. Noticing his hair had gotten ruffled, he pulled a comb out of his pocket and ran it through a few times, making it behave. It wasn't so much that Taranis was vain, so much as he knew he looked good and wanted to present his best face, especially with her parents who might soon be something much more. He finished before she got back down at which point his eyebrows climbed up at seeing the clothes she wore. "Sure, put him on his back or his side?" The cat weighed practically nothing and laying him across one arm on his side was easy enough; for his part, the little one simply settled in as if for a long nap and Taranis chuckled. After a minute she was back and they headed upstairs, Taranis turning his head to say night to her parents as he expected to head to his bedroom next afterwards. As they went up though he asked "The attic? So what, you can't feed him anywhere else? How'd that happen exactly?" Pets weren't supposed to control their owners, were they? Finding this odd he none-the-less followed and settled on the couch near her. "Actually why don't you show me first and then maybe I'll take a turn," he grinned, having just realized if she came forward any more his height would give him a view he'd rather not try to avoid seeing.
